You guys are sad, you mock me, thinking i have no brain, that I am thick, that I know nothing. Well you are wrong, you think I only listen to MTV? Well I don't have MTV for a start, I don't really watch TV much either, or lsiten to the radio........and I bet no other 15 year old on this board has heard of Runrig....

Find me another 29 year old that's heard of Runrig(?)????
:eyebrow:

No it's not mocking by the way, it's trying to get you to listen to what HEAVY music really is. See?? like i said you don't give a rats about what anybody else has to say on this site.

O i like all kinds of HEAVY music, i mean, how about heavy metal? Budgie, Sabbath? I like them, I like Pantera, I like Metallica. I like ltos of different bands.

That's good, we're just trying to point out some other heavy stuff that you might not be aware of. If heavy is what you want, take it from some old-timers (HAH) like us who have half a clue. Death, Carcass, Napalm Death, Morbid Angel, Old Sepultura, Obituary..... that stuff is what Slipknot and half of these other Barnum & Bailey bands got their inspiration from. It's OK to be openminded grasshopper...

O ok, I just thought you were saying Slipknot weren't heavy, which isn't true, they are heavy, but there are other bands that are as heavy, but i doubt heavier...

You doubt heavier? Only because you are obviously biased by your hard-on for their sexy outfits.

Listen to any of the bands that were mentioned.... Carcass, Napalm Death, Morbid Angel, Cryptopsy, etc etc etc. NOT pantera, metallica, etc as those bands ARE on MTV/radio and do not represent the full spectrum of metal out there. Don't put up your blinders just because someone disagrees with you, there's a reason and if you REALLY want to listen to the heaviest band in the world then you'll need to greatly expand your playlist.

I think the excessive members is more a problem than the mask. They are a poor man's Gwar when it comes to that, and it Gwar doesn't ALWAYS have extra people on stage unless it affects the "storyline."

Slipknot has a turntablist/sampler/headbanger/percussionist/idiot/extra singer that they don't need. When they strip it down and cut the B.S. they sound OK.

But technical ability as we've discovered, doesn't sell albums. People want to be able to bang their fist to snaresnaresnaresnaresnaresnaresnaresnaresnare. 4/4 simplicity sells. People can't most in 11/16, right Ben?

It's a sad, sad world, isn't it Matt? :scowl:

Slipknot could have been a brutally heavy, cool band. They had the potential to make some of the most mindblowing metal EVER. Instead, they dumbed it down at the insistence of Rick Rubin. You want heavy? Go out and get Meshuggah's new EP, "I". It WILL make your eardrums explode, I guarantee it.

My definition of heavy? Ministry, dude. Ministry.

I will give Slipknot the title of heaviest mainstream band I've ever heard. Well... that is going right now. The 90s alt metal scene was popular for a while. Ministry hit it big with N.W.O. and Pantera had Walk, that's some heavy mainstream. Some Slipknot is death metal though, and you don't think of death metal as pop music.

Cryptopsy
Origin
Between the Buried and Me
Black Dahlia Murder
Deicide
Watch Them Die
Dillinger Escape Plan (Calculating Infinity)

To name like, the ones I'm listening to at the moment.
And Ben's right, Meshuggah's "I" will destroy your ears.

Edit- Keeping in line with Meshuggah, I fell I should mention Aussie metalers Devolved.
