Yeah.
I dont think any drummer in rock can really be "The best ever". You get guys like Danny Carey and Portnoy who are great, entertaining, and know what a song needs...
But really, on a technical level, what have those guys got against the likes of Garibaldi, Chambers, Steve Smith, etc?
As for slipknot - Ive been listening to 'Duality' quite a lot recently. Pretty catchy song. And I think alot more people would like the band if they didnt seem so 'gimmicky'.

Yeah. I've seen it, it's nothing special. He keeps a steady double bass roll, and then pretty much randomly strikes whatever catches his eye. I'm not a drummer, and I was struck by it's relative simplicity and uncreative nature. He just keeps the double bass under it, and does a couple paradiddles here and there. Nothing creative.
Listen to Brann Dailor of Mastodon, or Flo Mounier of Cryptopsy. On any given song, even their "simple" ones, they eat Jordison for breakfast. And in Dailor's case, it's not even a conscious attempt to be as flashy as he can; it works. Or Gene Holgan of Strapping Young Lad. Track down any SYL album, and listen to a veteran of extremem metal at work.

You're so quick to defend him... do you actually listen to any metal? Something besides Slipknot? Maybe a lark on the internet and find some clips of the bands I've mentioned? It's not just entirely possible Jordison isn't all that, it's closer to a fact.
Yeah, Gene Hoglan is awesome, and so are Sean Reinert and Hellhammer (probably my top three metal drummers). Where the heck is Reinert, now?

Still sticking with Joey beign the best.....seen Buddy Rich, Nearl Peart, all these 'great' drummers that always get mentioned, Joey is better than them, in my opinion.
Saw Slipknot and Slayer at the weekend, Dave Lombardo pissed all over Joey. Lombardo isn't the most technical/fastest drummer around by any means but i like his style and his sound is superb.

Style wise - Stewart Copeland is ten times better than Jordison
Technique wise - Virgil Donati is ten times better than anybody I have ever heard.
You should watch some of his videos, Nickthebassist, he makes Jordison's hardest stuff look like Charlie Watts.

Well I think Slayer suck anyway....and Slipknot are MUCH heavier than slayer. And I seem to remember Joey drumming for Metallica....they turned down sveeral other drummers after they heard Joey drum... I can't remember for sure, but I think Lombardo was one of 'em.

How about respecting the opinions of others? People are trying to show respect to you, but you are just snubbing them and ridiculing their suggestions.
Slipknot isn't that heavy. Go get the new Mastodon, most any Opeth, any Meshuggah, or a few John Tesh cds and you will see the light.
Lombardo and Lar's drum tech drummed for the first few songs,then Joey was kept on when they heard him drum....they had other people lined up but told them they weren't needed.abark000 said:

Hmmm, it's just people treat me like I know nothing and I am not entitled to my opinion...and yes, Slayer influenced Slipknot a lot, but I just think Slayer dont have the deepness of Slipknot, and I feel the deeper, the heavier(in general).
