Paul Simonon Tribute Bass

I'll try to post some when I get home. Its not as detailed as yours, for instance, and its not a recreation of any single one of his basses, just a general tribute. I have not done any aging or relicing, and I thought about doing the paint stripes on the pickguard but I decided against it. I started with the body from my '70s Goya double P bass which had a warped neck, and got an Allparts Jazz neck. The Goya originally was a double P so the "neck" P rout was closer to the neck than a standard P. It originally had no pickguard and a back cover to access the pots, so I routed the body for the correct P position and covered the original rout it with a standard P pickguard. I painted the body with some spray can ivory/antique white. The Goya already had a Fender bridge, EMG Geezer P pickup and Gotoh tuners, so all I needed was a good neck. Oh, and I got a skull and crossbones decal from Etsy.

That's excellent! I saw the original at the Clash installation when it was at RRHOF. I am amazed that the neck broke in the middle, rather than at the neck pocket! Nothin' delicate about a P bass! I read that Simonon was disappointed about destroying it because it was his favorite sounding bass.

A P Bass of mine once got run over by a NYC taxicab. Case was wrecked; bass was fine.
Amazes me that someone could do that sort of damage to a P by going Townshend on it.
HEY I'M WALKIN' HERE!

I would love to see this bass too.
I am a huge Clash fan.....Especially the early days first album and singles ( Blue Rickenbacker )

Both he and Bruce Foxton of the Jam ditched Rickys for Fender Precisions
