Pawn shop find!!

Very cool. I like seeing these left of center designs.

There was also a really cool limited run fender bass as well. I think is was a Japanese run model from the 1980's. The name was Fender Performer as I recall and that had a very unique design as well. Someone said they sold for something like $350 back in the 1980's. But now the asking price is like $800 to $1000. Here's the string to that bass:

I was looking around a bit and found my nice red SBV-500 in Skowhegan Maine (where they filmed Empire Falls) at Perkins Music House
I picked up my yellow 'road worn' from GC had it shipped from Tuscon. Road worn = farmer tan on the pickguard from stickers that were removed, original tone and volume knobs missing replaced with speed knobs and it's nicked up a bit.
Nice add with the serial number tracking now I'll know their birthdays :)
I came into liking the design when I started listening to the band Supercar as a matter of fact I believe they re-issued the bass because Miki Furukawa (CWB and BL of Supercar) repopularized the model, not sure on that though, well I like their music anyway.

Resurrecting this thread with more information about the 5-string version.

It called the Yamaha BJ 5B and is the signature bass of Terry & The Blue Jeans, and very popular Japanese surf band. It was made in a limited edition of just 50 along with matching 6- and 12-string guitars.

I managed to get one from Ishibashi when it came up for sale second hand a couple of years ago. It's a fantastic looking bass, but very, very heavy compared with the 4-string versions. It's also huge and few of the stages my band plays on at the moment are big enough for me the wield it without doing serious damage to another band member of someone in the audience! Sound-wise it's pretty much a TRB5 as all the electronics are a direct lift, it's only really the shape that is SBV. Also it has a very extreme neck taper from the TRB5 bridge string spacing to a slightly wider than standard SBV nut which many people might find challenging.

Here's mine (the most expensive second hand bass I've ever bought after shipping and import taxes to the UK):

And a rare shot of me actually using it at a gig:

I think that is the best looking one I've ever seeen!
Yes , I agree , very good condition , the owner is to old to play it , his family decide put it on sale in Yahoo Japan auctions , no scratches , gold hardware is shine , but the best was the price , just 1600 USD , maybe is to much for a TRBII for some people , but is a Unique bass , I'm so happy
