PayPal is providing a safe secure portal for money exchange why should it be free? Gifts are still charged a fee, you can always factor in the fees and shipping when agreeing on a sale price.
Paypal provides a service that is worth something to anyone who uses it. If that wasn't true, then why use it?
What kind of reasoning is that bongomania? Pay for services rendered?

I think the best way to avoid paypal fees is to not use paypal in the first place. send a USPS money order
Some of the responses here really kick up some thoughts regarding the sense of entitlement that youger people have these days. Yeah, I know that's an assumption that I could very well be wrong about, but...
People are either forgetting, or never knew of the days when selling anything on the internet was pretty big ordeal. Not to mention days before the internet. I don't know how long paypal has been around, but I can tell ya that in the nineties if you wanted to sell your music (or anything) it would cost you a whole lot more in money and effort than paypal's fees, however limited you complain their protection is.
And last I saw, gifts weren't charged any fee. Not sure why bassbrad thinks there is.
i don't believe paypal charges you for a USPS money orderwhich they charge you a fee to make.

Joe, there's no sense of entitlement issue here. I gladly pay a fee for a service I feel warrants it. But in this case, there is a trust issue and a "way they conduct(ed) themselves" issue I take exception to that I don't feel I need to justify here. I don't use them, but that does not entitle someone else here (not necessarily you) to call me out on it like I am out to smite them, or I am cheap, or I am crazy for not recognizing their awesomeness.
