Peavey 450max

Just bought this for $100 bucks, driving home with it now.. I had no way to test it, I'll check it, clean it and see what up...

Is the cabinet painted? I had the same one covered in vinyl. It started peeling right after I bought it. I've been wanting to roll on some bedliner, but I'm in no hurry since I don't use a cab on stage anymore.

So I’m a “tinker type” and couldn’t leave the amp alone…

I pulled it apart because I wanted to see the guts and spray out the pots. Perfectly clean inside and out, like new and runs well.

Board is marked 3-2-05, nice to see it so clean and nothing out of order. I see nothing that concerns me as far as build design, potential wiring chafe or crappy soldering.

I had that same setup for awhile. Decent sound, enough volume on tap. One thing you may want to do is remove or bypass the tweeter and crossover in the cab. The cab sounds better without the tweeter - and by 'better' I mean that it actually has more high end available. I tried it and it worked - of course, my tweeter was already blown - which I believe is a known issue with those cabs....

Most bass cab tweeters use the same diaphram. They do tend to blow easily.
