Peavey Classic 400 - Mega Thread - Part II

If you read through these mega threads it’s in here somewhere.
The fan was added to meet a need to pass regulations but not needed for the amp.

Also, why do you think the ddt is disconnected?
It will only activate at the extreme end of the amps clean capability which is very loud!!!

I’ve been able to trip mine but only on the bench into dummy loads pushing almost 400 watts clean out!!
I’ve never seen it blink when playing.

^ Well, how about that. Makes my life easier.

I don't like rat fur, so that has been removed.

Has anybody rewired this footswitch successfully? Invalid Link Removed

I have one in hand, and this wiring diagram - Link Removed

which is confusing when comparing it to the actual wiring in the switch. Is it just a matter or rewiring the 7-pin connector to mirror the diagram or what?

I never used my footswitch -- I always ran both channels in parallel.

Yes -- I got rid of my Classic 400.
As much as I loved the amp, I'm looking for a different tone now.

Of course, if I had more money than debt, I'd have a Classic 400 just for kicks and personal rehearsal.

Yeah, they don't use the same color wires anymore so it will take a bit more to rewire correctly.
You will have to disassemble the plug part and figure out which color wire goes to each pin and match that to the rewire diagram.
The resistors aren't used anymore so they will end up being removed. The switches are a different style. The older style like that write up shows, the common middle tab is one of the ones on the side with two pins, the style on yours I believe the middle pin is the common one so where pin 4 in the diagram connects.
Where do you live?
Here's the inside shot of one of mine.

Ugh, yeah this is what I was afraid of. I should have just built my own...I would return it but the corner of the bottom plastic cover got gnarled up trying to put it back on.

I'm in California.
