Mine was missing all the knobs too when i got it.
But, they appear to be common off the shelf variety though. Sort of the Les Paul?? type for volume and blend as mentioned. Crosshatched metal for EQ, perhaps?? Not sure.

hey guys this is my first post. here's my dyna, my uncle gave it to me about 8 years ago when i decided i wanted to play bass instead of guitar. i'm trying to either repair or replace one of the saddles because one of the set screws seized in it. any ideas on finding a replacement or going with a badass bridge? thanks.

Pick up some penetrating oil at an auto parts house. Take the saddle off the bridge and put some penetrating oil on the stuck screw. Let it sit over night. May take a time or two for it to break loose.
If the screw doesn't loosen up, get in touch with Steve at Peavey Service. He may have a saddle in his parts drawer. The bridge is a Schaller. They're really good bridges and less expensive than Badass if you can't get the screw loose or find a saddle.

If one screw is corroded the others may be in the process. I'd recommend taking them all out and putting just a taste of lube on them.

Cool! Can I join in? I love Peavey basses. Got me a Dyna-Bass and I love it. Some beautiful ones here too, love the blue, got an '84 Foundation in the same color. Heres some pics of mine, they were taken from eBay as I dont have a camera of any kind but this is the same bass. I had to switch out the knobs as I have a have a wide strumming style of playing and with the speed knobs I kept turning down the volume with the side of my hand. Where the 3 small knobs were are now 3 Peavey speed knobs and where the 2 speed knobs were I put black chrome. I cleaned it up, set it up and put on DR Black Beauties and an after-market neck-plate.
That is an AWESOME case!!!!

Thanks Mech, i tried the lube and even an easy out and it broke that. I finally drilled and tapped it but that was to no avail as there wasn't enough left to thread a new setscrew. Found out it was a scheller and got a spare saddle from a parts distributor online (allparts). so the dyna is back up and running after too long.
thanks sonic, its a coffin flight case from musiciansfriend. I love it, it just weighs a ton, but it'd survive worldwar 3.
Well got everything setup to find that my active eq is producing very little volume maybe an eight of the passive. Off to the guitar shop I go.
If you have a fresh battery try turning the the trim pot that's accessible through the hole on the control cover on the back. It sets the level of the preamp and is used to set the volume balance between active and passive. Very handy once you figure out what active settings you like.

A few of the bass players came up to me, asked me what kind of bass this was, and remarked at the cool tone this thing had.

I'm in. I've got a metallic gray 1990 Dyna 5 w/ferrites:
- epic luthier de-fret job in 1994 with rosewood slats inserted into fret gaps
- always used roundwounds for tone, replaned fingerboard about 10 times, started running out of wood
- finally treated with epoxy, half-assed home job, pretty beat up, looks like crap but plays well
- was about to get rid of it, but discovered an AMAZING upright-like tone by reversing polarity of neck pick-up, set blend to 7 in passive mode (I think the active circuit sucks), EQ 400-500 Hz down -5dB, pluck mid-string
- answers to "Lucky"
If you've de-fretted yours, try that tone, it's sweet, and you can always reverse it back. Even cooler is the 3 blend setting, cancels all bottom end out, not practical but sounds hysterical.

After getting this one for my birthday from my girlfriend can i be in the Club lol. It needs a refin job on it any ideas?

Just threw some of those DR Neon greens on mine, they look awesome i'll put up some pics. They sound decent too. Looking cool is way more important though!

I have an 87 model Dyna-Bass that I just restored. This is a truly exceptional instrument. It sounds great in passive or active mode, but the batteries seem to have a short life in active mode. I usually get a few weeks play out of the battery before it starts to die.
I am careful not to leave the cable plugged in, so that's not the cause. Anyone else have this problem?
