Peavey DynaBass Club...

Here's the finished Peavey Dynabass. 10 coats of lacquer and a little buffing. Fender flat-wounds, passive wiring with blend, 4-way selector, mute switch and individual tone controls.

nix to the flats on a unity..
Possibly an active foundation "dyna" with ferrites.. but a unity .. nope... never.. bad combo.

hey guys i was thinking of doing a refin on my dyna. i have a '85 usa. what kind of wood is it? maple? cause its really heavy. also, does anyone know where or if i could get headstock decals for it?
I just refinished mine and it looked like rock maple center 2 planks with the outer 2 being ash or possibly poplar?? The headstock was screen printed using Peavey's own special (patented) process. So do all you can to preserve the original!! If at all possible.

Ok so I got one of these basses from a friend but it needs some work...
What is the little "bridge" at the top of the neck (on the bass head with all the tuning gear) called?
Looks like the some of the strings go under it...
I guess to adjust the play height of the strings from the fretboard?
I need to screw it back on (have one of the original screws) and have the unit restrung, tuned, and find some knobs if available...

I got the operators guide off the Peavey website but it doesn't have the part #s or the different parts of the bass guitar labeled...
Under the "Adjustments" section it reads:
"To set the "straightness" or "relief" of the neck, a Peavey torsion rod wrench NO. 75031001 must be used...So I think I need to find another screw and then adjust this to get the clearance of no less than 1/32" and no more than 1/16" blah blah"
Reading on I see that this is on the plastic underneath of t he cover plat on the head stock
Does anyone have a recommendation on what screws I can use to get the ( bridge?!?) back on and in proper working order?

Mine had a triangular string angle washer above the "nut"(the string guide or bridge at the top of the neck. It's a 4 string though.
The black aluminum triangle may be unique to US Dynabass'??

It's called a string [DEL]tree[/DEL] retainer <---Edit per post, below. It might look like a bar with two screws, circle, triangle. The tree on my Dyna 5 string is shown, and you'll see 3 strings E-A-D under it. The only string between the two screws is the A. Since the Foundations and Dyna models were 'string tree' similar, you might price it with Peavey's customer service, and see how much it would be with shipping.

Looks like yours still has the black metal bar that just needs a second screw and maybe some epoxy in the existing hole to hold the screw in place.

I talked to Peavey and the guitar tech there said it's called a "string retainer".
I like "string angle washer" better!
Yea I have seen them with the triangle but mine is like the one pictured above....
Peavey is sending me 2 screws so I will get it put on when they arrive.
Anyone have spare knobs (might just have to get the non originals maybe some wood!)
