Peavey Grind Bass 5 NTB (or BXP NTB)

Hi All

I'm just wondering if this is the same bass guitar?

Here it's described as Peavey Grind Bass 5 BXP NTB:

But here, it’s just described as a Peavey Grind Bass 5 NTB (without the BXP).

I’d just like to be sure as all the excellent reviews seem to point to the “BXP” - I've written to Gear4Music (I'm in the UK) for clarification but I've not received a reply yet.

I've also written to Peavey as they too just describe it as: Peavey Grind Bass 5 NTB.

I'm thinking that "BXP" could be an older/obsolete model?

I had a similar question...NTB stands for neck thru body. BXP is bass Xport, I guess it's their line of basses not manufactured domestically

Cheers... that's the information I was after.

I'm really drawn towards this bass because of the price and excellent reviews but I'm disappointed over Peavey Customer Service because after 4 emails I've still not had any acknowledgement/reply!

Looking at the pictures, I think the BXP was still using imbuya wood

I own a grind NTB, not the BXP. But I love it, it's beautiful, the neck is awesomely playable, and for the price I don't think it van be beat. A lot of folks have mixed feelings about these basses but I personally found it well worth it

If you’re going for a Peavey Grind look for the ones with the scalp on the lower horn.

I will... Was that a older build/range? The one as shown on the Peavey website doesn't appear to have the scalp.

Anyone have any advice on how to upgrade a Grind 5? I want to keep it passive, but i've heard the stock pups are pretty tonally limited. The bass is with my setup guy right now and I didn't have it long before I turned it over to him for some TLC. But if anyone's got suggestions about pup/bridge/nut upgrades, that'd be awesome

It's the same bass.

All the Peavey basses are made in Asia now. BXP is no longer needed to separate USA from Asia built basses.


CurlyMike did you email Peavey UK or Peavey in the US ? Sadly the UK division was closed last November so I wouldn't expect a reply from them.
If it was Peavey USA customer service then I'm surprised as they're normally on the ball.If you look at any Grinds selling on ebay UK a word of
caution,Peavey UK sold off the best of their stock prior to closure but the remainder of the stock was auctioned sight unseen and is starting to appear
on the market .

The models with the scooped lower horn like Ken J's and my own are the Vietnamese built models.Never felt the need to upgrade anything about that
beauty,truth be told the only upgrade I ever did on any of the 22 Peavey basses was ditching the Seymour Duncan Basslne pickups on my Zodiac DE for
Entwistle Neos.£50 for the P/J pair and a far greater output.

Ken J knows I look for any excuse to post this photo and it's missing 2 Foundations and another T-40.
