PEAVEY MARK VI BASS AMP HEAD

How well does the compressor work on a black 6 ? The little light flashes once. No sound change at room soundlevel.

I have only seen mine wink a few times, Never heard any change in sound if your taking about the D.D.T. compression light.

Yes I am. There seems to be no sound change. More of a limiter I guess.

Yes. I'm pretty much a Peavey guy. That 89 red Dyna was purchased from someone here on TalkBass. I sold it to a band mate in 2012 (ish) for $200 and, realizing my mistake, bought it back a couple years later. Like the T-40 has, the Dynas are starting to gain in value. But I'm keeping this one. It sounds great and is so easy to play!!!

Just would like to ask about the peavey mark bass Vl....

Is that ok to plug a single 2x10 gabinet (8 Ohmns)??? i know i will have like 120/130 instead of (250 working at 4ohmns) but would like to know if is there any risk for the amp working with 8 ohmns?? i thinking to buy the amp toghether with this 2x10 gabinet.....

The Mark VI manual is confusing.
In the specs section it states the power ratings for 2 and 4 ohms, yet under the "Speaker Output Jacks" section it states that the minimum load is 4 ohms. The jacks themselves have their ratings for 2 and 4 ohms printed next to the jacks. The VI XP manual updates to show the minimum load to be 2 ohms.
There is no mention of using an 8 ohms load in the VI manual but does appear in the IV version. As this is a solid state amp, I can't imagine it being incapable of supporting an 8 ohms load.
Your safest bet would be to contact Peavey customer support: Invalid Link Removed

You can run almost all* SS amps unloaded without issue. Mine has, many, many times.

* In reality any topology you're likely to find in a conventional MI amp like the Peavey.

I have one now and have plugged them into 4 ohm and 8 ohm. I am AFRAID to ever sell it because they are bulletproof and I like the tone.

I had 2 of the Mark III series heads from the late 70's / 80's. I will have one again.

What everyone said. Built like a tank and sounds great.
