Peavey Mark VI problem.

MMMK. Back to square one. I'm too lazy to dig in the head presently, so I pulled one of the scorps for MNAirHead. When I press on the cone I hear something similar to what is being emitted while I play. I'm assuming what I'm hearing is the voice coil rubbing in the gap. I cleaned the gap not to long ago so I'm thinking that these speakers are old enough that the are beginning to sag. Just a guess. Input please.

Took the mags off, there were metal specks in the gap; cleaned them up, re-installed them, plugged it in, and... no change. I can only hear it in the scorps, as it seems to specifically be a high freq sound(ish). I'd test the 18" alone but that's not possible at present cause some dink screwed with the input board on the cab (that's next on the fix list) Anyway, after listening to it some more I'm leaning towards a bad solder somewhere in the head; as the buzz is intermittent and it sounds more electric than speaker. It'll be a while before I get to that so I'll let y'all know what I find when that happens. Thanks for the help!

I have a very similar issue with my bass settup right now. A couple days ago the amp seemed to be slowly getting quieter and quieter until it stopped working all together. The problem described above sounds very similar in that the amp distorted the sound and sort of cut the notes short. Can anyone tell me whats wrong?
