I half expected it not to work tbth.
Much to my surprise the only thing wrong was a snapped off pot.

I paid a good price for mine, but of course that was in 1986 and it was brand new.

Yep, just another input. The manual says both inputs can't be used at the same time.

I downloaded a pdf manual when I got it, thanx though. And thanx for the quick response! I just got the 1820 a few weeks ago, it's a huge/heavy bitch. But holy hell does this combination rock!
25 years ago I an 1820 and a 3620 tatal of 3 x18's & 4 x 10's. I drove them with 2 Ampeg V-4's ( one was a V-4B and the other was a V-4 w/ the Reverb Tank). Cranked my Bass rig sounded almost like a B3 organ, very loud with lots of harmonics swirling around. I was still in the USNavy and sold the cabinets when I transferred from Philly to Sigonella, Sicily. Even though they where heavy I wish I still had them. I currently have a 1516 cabinet I got with 1 of my MegaBass heads from a local TB'er. I currently have 6 odd cabinets from variouse makers to choose from, depending upon the room/stage. I always have my T-Max and MegaBass Head's wherever I go.
You have to remember when the Megabass came out, it was on the razor's edge of technology. A lot of gear was wired with low z inputs and outputs. It was looking as if the 1/4 jacks were being phased out, with the more efficient low z cable being used. That didn't happen, but I'm guessing the tech savvy Megabass was ready for the transition that never happened. I still have a lot of processing that runs low z wiring, and I can go into the Megabass low z input.
I don't think anyone is running the club any longer. Just us die hard fans that love the Megabass. Come in and hang out, tell some cool stories about your Megabass. It's all good with us
Yep, I just took it upon myself when I found this thread a couple of years ago and took a #714, LOL.
Bought it new in 1986 and still going strong if I need it in 2018.
I'd love to hear my megabass through a 1516 or 1820 cab again, it's been years since I've had those. I've iften thought about getting another one, but there is no good reason why I should. I have a few amps I need to get worked on before I go that route.
It's got its share of scratches but has been in that Peavey rack for most if not all its life. It has been taken care it but has logged hours of use!
And yes it is a 1516 cab, I think the secret of the Megabass was that cab or the 1820. I had access to another cab at the music school and 2 1516 cabs just killed with the mega bass.
I just joined the megabass club. Woohoo! But I have one problem.
I picked up a beater and replaced a few broken pots, then spent a week chasing down bad solder joints and a really tough noise problem which turned out to be a floating ground on the pre-amp out board at the back (I assume it should be grounded via the spade connectors to the power board - if anyone can confirm or deny, I'd be grateful). Now the problem:
The XLR high and low pre-amp outs are dead (at least there is a really faint signal on both, but I assume that it is crosstalk). I've checked wiring continuity from the chorus board to the sockets and switched out the relevant opamp (U7) and that was OK, and the caps on the output line (c50, c101) look ok (the pre-crossover 1/4" pre-amp out works fine). Anyone have any ideas on where to look next?
Ignore this! I was tripped up by the "XLR" hot pin issue. Peavey made pin 3 hot on this amp - opposite of all modern stuff including my cables! Doh!
In any event I hope to gig with it next week; hoping it's more mellow than the Yorkville I've been using the last few times. Love top get that bi-amp pre-out working though.

They are great amp, I can really get a cool cutting edge sound with mine, but very musical.
Sounds like yours is a little beat up, worst case, you can contact peavey to see if they can overhaul it.
