I have a chance to buy one of these in great shape for $160; what do you guys think?
You better get it quick, before someone else does. I'd jump on it at that price and I already have 2 of them.
Nice! Well I paid $75 and $25 in parts, but then hours troubleshooting and fixing, so you probably got a better deal...I feel like I got robbed compared to what some of you paid for yours though LOL...
Anyway, I gigged with mine for the first time on Saturday and was really pleased with it. I ran it bi-amped into a 4ohm 1x15 and an 8ohm 4x10 and it sounded great. I ran gain on 2-3 and volumes on about 4 to fill a 60'x60' room with ~100 peeps; these things are loud!
Well, it was a lot dirtier than it looks in the pic, but everything seems to work; no snapped pots, etc etc... I feel like I got robbed compared to what some of you paid for yours though LOL...
It's a lot cleaner than mine was. Okay, $160 isn't a stellar price but how much do you think you overpaid, $30? $50? Big whoop. $160 for that quality amp is like stealing it.

Congratulations, wise decision, IMO. I'm betting you'll forget about feeling robbed after you rattle the windows of the neighborhood or countryside a few times.

You don't have to have a Ft. Sw. to test the Chorus to see if it works. It will turn on and off with the on/off switch next to the Depth control knob. The Chorus only works on the High Range Channel.

I have a chance to get this amp for cheap, I intend to use it with my beloved Crate BE15EV, so in fullrange only. Is it worth the try, or does this old beast show all of his capabilities in bi-amp ?

You can run it no problem in the mono mode but, it has 2 power amps and each is 200 watts RMS @ 4 ohms(very conservatively rated) and you can't use both power amp channels into 1 speaker. 1 channel will drive your 15 no problem. When you get a second cabinet you can drive them both in mono or bi-amped.

I used to run mine bi-amped into a 1516 cab, with one channel running the 15 and the other running the twin 8's. You can really dial in your tone that way.

It shows its capabilities in both bi-amp and full range. I ran mine full range for a long time and then bi-amped and it sounded great in both. The 200 watt power rating on the power amps is ridiculously conservative. It is one of the loudest best-sounding 200 watt amps you will ever hear.
TBer Chrome Dome hooked me up here locally a few years ago with my 2nd MegaBass head and a 1516 Cabinet. It does make for a nice little bi-amped setup.

Peavey was huge in the 70’s-90’s, all American made until NAFTA went through and businesses had to resort to overseas manufacturing to stay at a competitive price point. After that, it fell out of grace with many mainstream musicians, as the quality went down, coupled with lots more gear available.
These days Peavey has balanced overseas pricing vs. quality, and the products are once again gaining respect with the newer generations of players. It may not be the hot ticket as it once was, but it’s becoming more and more cutting edge as it once was.
Peavey owns Trace Elliott, and their roots are showing with the new TE Elf System, leading the way with micro amps and cabs using advanced technology Peavy invented, much the same way the Megabass was on the cutting edge of technology when it appeared on the scene.
While the newer players might not know how good the old peavey gear is, us old dogs quietly grab it when it’s avaliable, knowing what quality gear it is.
