Peavey Nitrobass

I ran a Nitrobass for the better part of last year into a Steelsound 2x12 and an Avatar 2x10 NEO. The entire rig cost something like 650 dollars total (including shipping).

The only thing I did do tonewise was put a Presonus TubePre into the signal chain before the Nitrobass. I really like the touch of tube warmth/harmonics in the resultant final tone.

It's a VERY nice setup for very little money. The Nitrobass will run all day at 2-ohms and not even get very warm. Enjoy it if you purchase it. My amp is now owned by another T'B'er, and the last I heard, it was still doing fantastically well.

Before I bought this amp I had one that was a 180w Behringer which had a good tone but it was not ever what I exactly wanted. When I got this I was finally able to achieve the tone I had been looking for. I give this amp a 5 out of 5. I bought it for $400 dollars used with a 1 x 15 cabinet. The cab is a 4 ohm cab so I am not even running it at full wattage and it is still loud enough for anything I will need it for. I am however adding a second 4 ohm cab so each will run at 2 ohms. I will either add another 1 x 15 or a 4 x 10 but probably a 4 x 10. I run an Ibanez Ex Series Red 4 String that combined with this amp gives a killer tone. There is one show that I did that this amp was not quite loud enough for but it was in a building as long as a football stadium and was completely full of people. But the line out jack solved this problem because I just ran through the house P.A. This amp has been great to have and I am sure that I will have it for years to come of course this is because Peavey is indestructible pretty much. When I got it the cab had tears and such all over it and since I have been in possession of it have banged it up quite a few times but is still working just fine. As far as looks go it is probably one of the cooler amps I have seen because of the black with the red accents. Just a suggestion however but if you get this amp I would suggest running the contour at full it gives a much fuller sound.

Vice...

I am another SS + Peavey nitro user. It is awesome. IME, the head doesnt have an unusable seting.I play all types of music and this amp will crank out the goods. My DDT speaker light does seem to come on early, though... You dont want to be standing in front of it while this is happening. Try talking the price of the amp down or the trade in value up. I only say this becaus I have seen the firebass heads, same pre bigger power, sell for 2-300. otherwise...great head.
