Peavey rigs, UNITE!

Blast from the Past! ‘Way back’, in 1977, I purchased a RIC 4001 & a Peavey ‘stack’... was super-excited! I believe the head was 200w... the cabs were 2x15. When I needed more volume I would use the Ric-o-sound jack- run the neck pu thru these & run the bridge (treble) pu thru a Sunn head w/Sunn 2x15 cab. Was a beast - for a 15 y/o :bassist::bassist::hyper::hyper: !! After 2-hernia surgeries... 2- herniated back discs & drawing near to 60y/o - they’re all gone... doin the Markbass thing these days. :woot: ... and I got fat & cut my hair . (Ignore the, homemade, wooden mic stands... it was a simpler (poorer) time back then) ;).

The ones with the aluminum knobs? I bought a 200 version from a fellow TB’er and it arrived dead as a highway armadillo. An unnamed carrier apparently banged it around in transit, but the guy was great about giving me a refund. It was otherwise in immaculate condition. I really wanted to hear it.
Thanks!
I had to buy a PA-120 and scavenge the power-amp board from it, but the Century is up and running again.
I would like to find a really clean Century head. Not much power, but simple and indestructible. I use an Ampeg SVT PRO 3 with a Peavey 210TX with Eminence Delta speakers. That cab with the Century would be cool!
The Century is a VERY bright head; I prefer mine into cabs without horns.

That’s great news! It was extremely clean for a vintage Peavey. I recall you said it sounded awesome as a preamp into Classic 400 power tubes....
It was DEADLY; I was so impressed with the coupling of a SS preamp and a tube power amp that I started looking for a Peavey Mace...

Peavey Classic 400 and a TXF 4x12.

Crushes all who dare to challenge it.
That’s a potent combo, but at one point I had my Classic 400 into an 810TX and a PAIR of 410 cabs (via a custom series speaker cable) for a total of SIXTEEN 10” speakers and 400 angry tube watts.

Wish I had pics of it

I love Peavey gear. My first amp when I started playing back in the late 80’s was a Minx 110. Graduated up to a Mark lV head with a 2X15 Cab a few years later. Eventually replaced that rig in the early 2000’s with a BAM head on a 4X10 cab. I don’t have any pics of that gear though.

I rocked this Series 400 BASS head for awhile but sold it off to a guy in a doom metal band about a year ago.

I’m picking up this Combo 300 tomorrow as a replacement.

I also have a T20 and a T40 in my arsenal. Both are outstanding basses.
