Peavey Rudy Sarzo vs Cirrus.

Hi i was playing some basses at a local shop, and the Rudy Sarzo, blew my mind. How it compares to a Neck Through Cirrus? I keep thinking of gasing on a Warwick Thumb. The problem is that i have two W, Corvette Std Bubinga fretless and $$. I dont know if i really will see a change (here is hard to test a thumb, maybe could try korean made), if i go for another W. I was looking for an Spector Euro Lx, also.

Im looking for a 4 string, easy to play, the sarzo played and sound like butter.

The Cirrus is 35" scale, does that make a difference for you?
Both are nice, a Sarzo in good shape is worth getting because it is more rare than a Cirrus.

Dont know i tought the Cirrus, was better for dowtuning. But i played a btb, 35 scale and didnt like it, but maybe was that bass.
The thing is, i could get locally some peavies, or abroad some Spector Euro or W thumb. The Euro is close in sound to the Peavey Cirrus/Sarzo?

What i liked about the peavey was that kinda snore tone, i even dont find it in my vettes.

Sarzos, especially late 80's/early 90s (the first Peavey ones) are fine basses indeed. Top of the line.

Which Sarzo are we talking about here? The late 80's-90's models? Or the newer Cirrus models?

I had an early 90's model and it was a stellar bass. I thought the onboard preamp and pickups were kinda meh, but the rest of it was fantastic.

The Cirrus is great for detuning. I keep mine DGCF.

i found that there is a 2012 reissue, but the one i played had different bridge, so i think is 90s. The reissue is 35' the, 90s 34.

I came from Warwicks, maybe W are not my type of sound. Is much difference between Sarzo and Cirrus, and between that and Spector?

Play them both and then decide which you like better.

The Cirrus has a 35" scale and it does have an impact for some players. I had one (USA version) and I totally loved it, but first position was problematic for my smaller fingers so it had to go. An otherwise excellent bass indeed.

I do have an '89 Sarzo signature and it is a great bass. Playability and build are top shelf. and I happen to like the electronics. One of my favorites.

Nobody can make that decision for you jesuskno. Either way you'll get a fine instrument - get the one that suits you best.

The Sarzo and the Cirrus have different pickups. You should probably play them both and go with whichever one sounds better to you.

Did you tried the cirrus? what made you decide towards the Sarzo?

Just for comparison, I heard the Rudy Sarzo was patterned after Alembic electronics. The Cirrus definitely had Ken Smith as a model. That should pretty give those who don't know an idea about the sound.

Cool! Looks very sweet! I saw one just like that on GC Used (I think) today and thought about buying it, for a couple of seconds. I REALLY do not need another 4-stringer, and really want a TL-Six right now.

Hi guys
I did the test Cirrus vs Rudy on my Mesa Boogie 400+.
The two Bass liked a lot.
I have to say that the difference between 34 'and 35' are quite appreciated (I have big hands)
But I chose Rudy for the following reasons:
The bass was practically unused, seemed a store stock that never sold and I think it's difficult to get Rudy Sarzo in this condition. And the red is my favorite.
I think the Cirrus as "like new" is easier to get today.
However ... The Rudy turned me more comfortable (34 ') and the sound is incredible.

Even so I spoke with the owner of Cirrus, and reserve to me a few weeks until I can raise the money to buy it.
When I have the two basses I will make a video for a sound comparison.

PS: Rudy Sarzo mounts "Dynabass" electronics.

I have a shot at getting a The first series Sarzo basses in black or Aria proII 800 Sarzo signature there both priced reasonable. I just can't find the value on the black ones just the red ones. i might go with the Sarzo Aria bass it is more rare. yes I missed out on a 1973 Fender Precision original except case for 899.00 that's not a typo
