Peavey T-40 Club Part 2

Thought I'd drop this Craigslist link (not mine, no connection to seller) out here for the brother/sisterhood:

Peavey T-40, just outside of Asheville, NC. Seller reports in good shape, with OHSC, 1984 birthdate. Not quite close enough for the drive to be worth it for me, plus I'm not really in the market (though why I keep my eyes open for these, I'll never really know--until I own one!). Likely a local-only sale.

Anyone got a spare T40 neck for sale? Maple preferred, but will consider Rosewood. As long as it's got a good truss rod, I'm your huckleberry!

I just bought an '82 natural finish T40 from a pawnshop, and it appears that the truss rod nut is shot. The rod moves side-to-side with no apparent effect. With enough time and information, it could probably be fixed, but I'm anxious to play it now, as all the electronics work great, and it sounds fantastic, but the action is about as high as the Empire State Building!

Well, sad to say that I've now bought and returned ONE T40 neck, and bought a second one which also ended up with issues. Looks like a trip to a luthier is gonna be necessary, as I now have TWO necks with issues. One has a broken trussrod, and the other needs a refret. These necks are not getting any cheaper, either. I should have picked extras up a couple of years ago, when they were much less expensive. I haven't seen a T40 neck on fleabay in a while now.

On another subject, it turns out that 3 out of the 4 saddles on this pawnshop T40 are stripped where the adjuster "grub screws" are, so intonation is fairly difficult. Does anyone have a spare T40 bridge or just the saddles they'd like to sell me? If so, please PM or email me direct: [email protected]

Well, I finally lucked out. Not only did I find a GOOD T40 neck, I found a good FRETLESS T40 neck! Considering that the shipping was free, I didn't give a second thought to his "Buy it Now" price of $165.00. If you've been keeping up with my travails, I've already wasted time and money on TWO conventional T40 necks that won't quite do the trick. I've got one complete 1978 slab body T40 with good neck, and (2) 1982 bodies, one completely loaded. And two bad necks (sigh).

But now I can choose the best of the 1982 bodies and install a FRETLESS neck on her!

I'll post a pick after it arrives, and I get it installed.

Good things come to those who wait!

PS: Does anyone have an extra bridge (or (3) complete saddles) for a T40? It turns out that 3 of the saddles on my second T40 have stripped out adjustment screws. I haven't tried contacting Peavey, but they don't have much T40 stuff anymore, so I thought I'd ask here first. I'll pay for either a complete bridge or at least 3 saddles with good screws intact. Thanks!

seeing as i got no replies in the US peavey club, I'll repost it here.

Hi all,
to the players out there who have a T-40, can you please do me a favor and measure the distance from the 12th fret to the center of both the bridge and neck pickups? thanks.

Somewhere I do. do you still need them? I'll start digging. I had parts left over from when I turned my t40 into a t50

I'm surprised I've missed posting here.

For a long time I'd been hankering after a T-40. Last November it happened, T-40s are quite expensive here in Europe and when
a fella in Bulgaria offered me the makings of one I jumped

He'd picked it up in a pawn shop after somebody had butchered it by trimming the body along the PG line.So I just had to get a body for it
and while looking for one I bought another T-40. I figured having a whole one would give me a reference if I cut my own body.

A month pasted before I finally just bought a body from the US and the rebuild date was set. Sadly when the body was chopped the switches
were changed so the electrics didn't fit:jawdrop: Some good folks helped out with suggestions in particular a great guy named Flat Eric,he got me
the morning I was getting the router out, so no damage was done. Switches were ordered and one's still to arrive.
