Screaming deal right there! I got my first T-40 (white w/ RW board) from a pawn shop for $225, 4 or 5 years ago. Now, I have 4 haha.Count me in. Pawn shop score, $299 about a month ago.
Hi Drew. Quite a few guys here should be able to advise you on that truss rod. mech, Eilif, kodiakblair and heaps of other Peavey experts, so hang tight...they will definately answer you when they visit soon. Best of luck with it and welcome T-40 owner.Hi T-40ers! Good news and bad news: I bought a 1981 T-40 in great condition and I got (what I thought was) a relatively good deal at the Dallas guitar show, so I can fit in with this esteemed group. The bad news is that the truss rod is broken. Anyone have a suggestion? Are these practically repairable, or should I be looking for a replacement neck? It's a maple neck and fretboard. The guitar tech thinks its broken at the bottom (body side) where it attaches to the neck.
If anyone has an early T-40 neck or an early T-40 that has a good neck but other problems, let me know, I'd be interested. I would also consider selling if someone has an interest, but I'd rather fix it if it wouldn't cost too much.
Thanks for the help there kodiak..I was hoping you would chime in to help the OP.Drew what @Giffro says is correct. Got the info from Chip Todd himself. I'm at work for next 12 maybe 14 hour so I'll Pm you later.
Approximately how far from the fretboard surface do you need to drill? In other words, how much thickness do you leave between the edge of the drilled hole and the surface of the fretboard?
Hey JJ .. so do I. I hope exact instructions can be posted (again if done before) for those in need of this repair. I would like to also know if all Peavey basses have the same truss rod system and this repair would work on them all. For example is the truss rod in the T-40 the same as the one in a '91 Peavey Dyna Bass, Patriot, Foundation etc etc etc and would this repair procedure work in all types whether they be 4 stringers or 5's etc?Yup.
Luckily, I don’t need to remove a truss rod, but I do want to know how.
