This looks like a good place to ask. What would be the best way to go about finding a replacement bridge, or at least saddles, for a T-40?

Keep an eye on eBay for somebody parting out a T-40.

Mostly folks are looking to replace necks,pickups and knobs. For very instance of those there will be a bridge the seller never thought to list. Spot a neck or body, msg the seller asking if they have the bridge.

Thanks. I don't play mine often. I have a roomful of basses and they each have to wait their turn. I just acquired mine in a trade a few months back. It's a '78 that had been sitting in a closet for years and years. I'm still messing with what I like, but man, what versatility! And the craftsmanship is great.

This is my T-40 (serial number dates it as a 1979 model) plus some settings pictures that may help some T-40 users experiment with their tone settings.

I took my T-40 to rehearsal this past week and realized that none of my hardshell cases will fit the T-40. I do not have an OEM case.

Is anybody using an aftermarket hardshell case? Any suggestions? I don't want to have to go soft case, and trying to locate an OEM case is hit and miss. I dug through this thread to see if this has been discussed but I don't think it has been asked.

I made it from various spare parts I had... Someone hacked the body up to make it lighter I guess... the funny thing is it’s still 11lb

the neck was off another bass I bought for parts, frets were badly torn out and the neck hacked down to a jazz bass width...

Refinished both and now I have my temporary fretless T40 until I find the real deal, T40FL

I think most people don't realize the majority of the weight on a T40 is everything except the body.
The H/W and PUPs weigh a ton....057912

Thanks, yeah looks like I may have to go OEM. I tried cases for Precision, Jazz, Stingray and Rickenbacker for kicks. The T-40 is just so wide and long.

I bought my hard case for the T-40 from an Australian company called Swamp Industries for approx $100AUD. It fits perfectly too. The info is below but the shipping cost would be prohibitive most likely..have a look anyway. You may find a similar seller in the USA. The case dimensions are below..I measured the bass first and queried Swamp Ind. as to the case size and they included the dimensions..so yes the T-40 fit well.

The width of the bottom half of the body is quite wide and requires a case to suit it's dimensions. As these vintage basses were produced between 1978-1987 and are quite old, you will often find them for sale without their original cases. My 1979 T-40 fits nicely inside one of these Swamp ABS style 5 string hard bass guitar cases. If the bass guitar was 1" longer or wider it would not have fit, but sits snugly inside the Swamp case. The case is very well made with plush interior, solid construction, excellent hinges, 4 good catches (1 lockable with keys) and a good sturdy handle. The exterior cases ribbing on front and rear gives the case a firm solid feel and the newer styled RS-BC-501 case with it's aluminium edging on both body and lid gives it a modern sleek look. Overall it is a solid, well built bass guitar case, made for large 5 string basses or in my situation it suits my wide beam 4 string 1979 Peavey T-40 bass guitar.
