I’m not sure how to join a club? Post with pic of proof?

Well this has been seen and talked about quite a bit over the last 2-3 days in my “NBD” thread. My inexpensive find, 1979 T-40.

I’ve worked on making it super clean the last 72 hours. New strings are on way which leads me to my first question. The through body stringing requires extra long or super long scale strings yes? I cannot find very many choices. I prefer nickel and would like to hear what people are using?

IIRC, I used a regular set of Fender Original Pure Nickel.

I don't think I had any trouble with length. It's been a while, maybe I had to cut the silk back a bit? The through body holes are right under the bridge saddles so I don't think there is a tremendous difference in string length.

Yes to all the info, I’ve found many many good info sheets. I printed the 4 page manual and cheat sheet for tone settings. I also found a link to an interview with Chip Todd on a blog. The more I read about this thing the more it takes me back in time to the many great concerts I’ve seen from ASIA to YES

I think the guy that Lobster has to return this to may have an issue with that.

Wow! Such a deal! You’ll be able to flip that for quite a windfall considering what they’re selling for recently. Can’t wait to see your NBD Post about this bass when we get it.

Only have to pay shipping, right? As this is a T40, that will require a tailgate lift, 2 people to move it and a chiropractor and masseuse for each of them. Comes to $6552.23.

After eyeing them for years, picked up my first ever T-40 in *excellent* condition for $620 from- I swear I’m not joking- a local chiropractor. Figured I might as well hop on the train before they get any more expensive!

I traded with one my pals for his trusty T-40.. it’s on its way & should be here this coming Tuesday.
These have been on my radar for decades now (literally! ) and I’m stoked to finally be in the “club!”
Will post some more photos once it’s here!!
