Oooooooo! I had on identical to the T-40......I had to polish it after each play otherwise the "piano like finish" disappeared under the fingertprints (like you say!).

I sold it about 2 years ago.....somedays I wish I had it back...GREAT solid (that is an understatement) bass!

as with the poster just above, I bought mine new at age 18 and had it for 20+ years!!!

I have a white T40. '79 I believe. Love the thing, love the tones I can get - but it's just too darn heavy for me anymore. In fact 'I'd gladly entertain some trade offers for it.
It is in great shape, needs a setup and has a 2 inch or so little logo drawn on the top(in sharpie) which can probably be taken of with rubbing compound and a few red spots (almost looks like candlewax) that were on it when I got the bass.

If anyone is interested - go ahead and get ahold of me. I like old Japanese basses and things like that -hollowbodies - univox etc..you get the idea.

Would love to pass this on to someone who would play it!:bassist:

Hi Guys

I own 4 Peaveys T-40... Can I be part of your club ????

I first played on a T-40 bass in 1981 as I had to... The bass player I replaced had a T-40 and the band leader wanted me to continue this tradition... I bougth a brand new T-40 for me... When I left the band I handed back that bass but it always remained in my mind... Two years ago I've bougth one on Ebay for almost nothing... It's incredible that a so fine american instrument can be so cheap... I finally bought three others basses and I'm planning to get one of each possible color !!!

Wait till you drop your '85 T40 tail first on your big toe with no shoes on ... >_< 'Solid' is not exactly the first thing that comes to mind when that happens. LOL!!! Though its the reason why you are making up 'colorful' metaphors as you hobble away. :p
