In my experience the toasters had some more warmth and less 'bite', not as aggressive I guess would be a simpler explanation, you could probably do some EQing or something to make them sound the same as its not a huge difference, but I just preferred the toasters.

Mine is an 82 according to the serial (thanks for the link).

Bought a replacement switch (no easy) for the pickup selection, solder and... that thing is a BEAST!!!
The neck pickup is mean! so much output it's unbelievable.
This is a keeper!

I (reluctantly) plopped down $450 for my minty '80 Sienna Sunburst in January. It was way more than I wanted to spend, but I can learn to resist anything but temptation. At least it's not the $625 I saw one go for in eBay a few months before that!

At this point I've even stopped feeling bad about it! :D

Heh! I still have it! It was all rolled up in the corner of my practice studio (with about 7 other Rush posters) and my excellent wife and kids had it dry mounted for me a couple of years back for Father's Day.

The cool thing is, when I really cranked up my Marshall and hit the low B, the board rattled against the wall so bad, I had to take it down!! :p

I'll have some pics up once the stain is dry on my project T-40. I decided to go with an ebony stain. Two coats has it mighty black, but the grain still shows through. Pretty slick looking so far.
