Funny, my local tech said the rosewood boards were much more stable than the one piece maples. Yet, I see few rosewoods and most maple.

I need a "numba".

think the rosewoods are much more rare to begin with.

Everyone has different priorities and likes different things about their instruments. I'm sorry the T40 didn't work for you, but you have to go with what feels right to you, good luck.

Its not so much the T-40 didn't work for me, so much as "which of my basses have resale value (which eliminates the ones ive built for myself) and I don't play much anymore, but in the future could find a replacement for" and that wound up being the '79. Great instrument but I'm just not gigging it right now.

There is no need to explain yourself, everyone has different needs when it comes to their instruments. You have to go with what works for you. No one here is judging you or feels that you are in any way less of a bassist for simply choosing a different plaatform to express yourself.

BTW, I had a black one with the blade pups for a while ( sold it here), and tis output was MUCH hihger than my natural one.

Wazzup with those blade pups>? I always thought blades were low output.

Just picked up a '79 T-40...

My jaw is still on the floor....I can't get over how many sounds are possible with this thing.

wow.....now where do I sign up for yoga class....I'm going to need a strong core to jump around with this on my back!

Wazzup with those blade pups>? I always thought blades were low output.

The original pickups are technically blades too, they are just not exposed, they are somewhere under the 'toaster' covers so the blades are farther from the strings, therefore the output will not be as high unless you move the pickups significantly closer.

It could also be pickup design changes, but thats my 2 cents from having owned one of the 'toaster' T-40s

I hate to admit this, but it was too heavy for me....yeah, I know... I'm a wussy. I'm a small dude though

Anyways, I just scored a USA Ampeg B-100R and a Squire CV Jazz with USA 75 RI pickups and neck from a CV P-Bass...which I also have. The idea of having a J and a P with matching necks...a neck I really like....was too much to pass up for me.

So something had to go

I included a set of Roto 66's which I think will be killer on YOUR new bass. It has D'addarios on it now, but they're shot.

I'm going to try hard to get it out tomorrow.

Man, I would love to put the neck, pickups and electronics from a T-40 on a custom lightweight maple body.

I'm going to miss this bass. No new basses until I can afford a Ric 4003..... maybe if I keep saying that over and over again to myselfm it will stick.

The pickups and wiring are all detached and trying the read the schematic for me is like trying to read chinese. Id like to know what year this beauty was made. the serial number (i believe) on the back of the headstock reads "00396338"

any help is appreciated.

I think yours is a 79, double check me though.

Does anyone know how rare a red t40 is like hom many naturals were made compared to a red? i may get a red one in awesome shape with the origianl case for 250$.

I owned a sunburst with its origianl case and sold that at profit , after i did i regretted it because i really loved the sound.

My friend/drummer told me my t40 was the best tone he ever heard me get and that was after i had owned and jammed on over 50 basses with him and i was playing through a damn behringer cab, i miss that bass.
