+1, you could buy it, and if you dont like it, flip it here and come out ahead.
That's a situation where the parts are worth more than the whole. I'd like to have the neck, knobs, and case, and stick the Barts in something else.
And please count me in the T-40 club. I got this white beauty from Wademiester last week and can't believe I waited so long.

How about 250$ ?????????? i just got it for 250$ its in great shape same with its OHSC. The cheapest i see t40's for now are 300$ i see them going for up to 600$. One on ebay sold just like this one with the case in worse shape for 430$ and that was almost a year ago.............good day

haha thanks i was going to pay the 300$ but as i was playing it the guy for some reason said i'll take 250$ , idk why but hey its fine with me.
The neck is fine it has 1 ding on it thats noticeable other then that its great , the body is very clean . Over all a bass thats 30 years old is hard to find in this shape, even if a bass is not played it still gets moved around and obviously the case helped keep this one in shape.
Is this your 1st T-40?
They can be heavy as anything but you can get a very wide range of tones out of them. Between the humbuckers and the coil-splitting on the tone pots, there's a lot of bassy goodness in there.
The one I have now is my second. I had one back in the very early 80's and I traded it away. The one I have now I landed back in December from Music Go Round in Iowa somewhere. I paid $275 plus $30 shipping and I thought that was a good deal.

the drop d tuner came in today. it's great! it's a perfect match for the other three, and couldn't have been easier to install

Did you get to mess around with the controls yet? If you have the pickup selector switch set for both pickups to be on, the tone controls also function as coil taps. When the tone for either pickup is below 7, that pickup has both coils engaged. When the tone is over seven, that pickup becomes single coil. Since yours has the exposed blade pickup magnets, you should have an easier time figuring out which coil is "on" in single coil mode.

I am figuring it out , great tone, is the E really deep and low on anyone else's? I never played a t40 before but the E string seems alot lower then any other basses i have played , it kinda seems not insync with the other strings like it should be higher. Maybe its the fact these strings are covered in rust.
LOL so when i went to get the bass my dad was out of town , i have no car so i ride a bike to get it. With the case i think that thing weighs 20-25 pounds and is really awkward so i am riding through town trying to balance it . The bass itself does not seem heavy to me with a strap.
i got to eat and relax then i will be putting new strings on and cleaning it up,
EDIT: cleaned , polished the frets , oiled the board , fresh set up rounds and lowered the pick ups.......awesome
