Peavey T-40 Ross Valory Model? Any info appreciated.

Hey players,
I have most of a Peavey T-40 Bass that says ROSS on the head stock.

Serial Number "000010" I haven't been able to find the history behind it.

It's in bad shape. I need tuners (or a repair), a pickup, pot knobs and such if I ever want to get it put together. Pretty substantial crack in the neck running under the strange modified brass nut.

Anybody know the story on this potential "Ross Valory" model?

Ross Valory was a early endorser of the T40, you just may have a real piece of history there!

I suppose someone could have purchased a Ross Vallory signature model, with a low serial number.

But there wouldn't be a mystery, if that was true.

To the best of my knowledge there was not a Ross Vallory signature model. What we are probably looking at is a early serial number pulled off the line and given to Ross.

Considering the era it was made,, I'm more apt to believe there isn't a such thing as a Ross Valory model and that bass was actually one of Ross's given to him by Peavey, especially with SN 000010.....if so, it's one of the coolest things I've seen on TB for awhile

Cool bass for sure.
It might even be worth something to a collector.
More if it was correctly restored.

Since it is already missing pickups and any sort of wiring that could be considered an invitation to build it for you instead of what the factory did.

Either way I'd suggest doing something about that cracked fretboard.
Does that go into the neck under it?
The fix might be as simple as getting super glue down into the crack.

It looks like a whole lot work unless the OP has access to a lot of original Peavey parts. I think Journey is in the R 'n R HOF, the actual museum in Cleveland might want it or some Hard Rock Cafe might take it.

I bought a T40 when they first came out! Sadly sold it years ago but I have this beauty to replace it.
