Peavey T40

Hi i'm still looking for my first bass guitar.I thought i would look at the second hand market.

I've found a made in the USA Peavey T40.From what i've read on here and on guitar review sites this is a good bass.Loads of different tones.Good built quality.A keeper.

The one i've found is a very good price. And generally in good condition.Comes with a fitted case. But it needs a new toggle switch.

But it still plays good and makes good tone even with out the use of one switch.According to the seller.

So what type of toggle switch do these guitars have?Does Peavey do a replacement?

Cheers fenderhutz didn't think of that one. Email sent. :)

I did do a search Knifemaker read my post properly.

Thanks for the information JumboFriendly. When you say phase is that the three way toggle switch? Is the pup only a two way?

Whats a DPDT 6 contacts?

Sorry i am new still and still learning. :help:

Since you're in Europe, check out this site. They specialize in old Peavey parts and I've read several good reports on their customer service.

PeaveyT60 is a forum that specializes in old Peavey's. (specifically T-60 guitars but they also get into other models) Chip Todd, the designer of the T-series (the 'T' in the name) also posts over there frequently. In fact, I just received an email from him this morning and he's going to send me an obscure part for the old T-20 I just picked up. Very cool.

Hi yeah.I re registered using a different email address. Email came straight away. So anybody with an yahoo email address don't bother it wont work.

Well the actual Peavey i'm looking at is a auction on line and is very cheap. Its all original the seller says. Comes with a Peavey T40 case.

From the serial number and looking on Wikipedia. It was built in 1979.

Nice! Same year as mine. No pole pieces on the pickups.

Here's mine with a WD Music vintage pearl pickguard.

That is the very first case as well, the soon changed over to a non rectangle case.

I saw a natural one similar to that in a pawn shop last week. Price was marked at $589. When I picked it up, the fretboard had a huge crack going down it, so I just set it back down and didn't try to haggle. Maybe I'll go in after Christmas and see what they'll go down to.

It's hard to find many basses in pawn shops around here besides Squier P's that are beat to hell and/or covered in stickers. My T-40 was what I'd call a rare find for my area. It's the dark transparent red, made in '83, $80 out the door with a Coffin Case (would have MUCH rather had the original, but it's long gone). I hope I can find another one day, I'd love to have more than one.
