Peavey T40's

So, when its in single coil mode, can you change the tone or is it something like- the tone controls work as any would (cutting highs at 0 and as u turn up it adds them back) but at 7 it would be like "10" would be on any other bass, and then anything past 7 is single coil mode. I guess what im trying to say is, when its in single coil mode, can you affect the tone with the tone control or is it always just full on?
 
I had a T-40 and yes, that baby was very heavy That being said, it wasn't that bad to have it on you, as long as you don't use a really thin strap. I'm only 5-8 and 160lbs and I had no problem playing it. My shoulder is usually a little stiff afterwards, of course. I loved the sound of mine and recently sold it to make room for my new MIM P-Bass.
