Peavey TNT 130 modification questions.

Just be careful, that's not a speaker with high power handling. The TH-350 is capable of destroying it without much effort if you aren't careful.

IMO, the speaker matches the TNT amp well, my documentation shows that's the original speaker in the standard version of the amp. There were several versions over the years however.

IMHO, start saving now, so when the times comes you can buy a cab that is lighter and better suited to the TH350. Sure you could go through the trouble of modeling different drivers to see what might work half-way decent in the TNT cab, but you would still be left with an extremely heavy kludge.

Yours may be pre Scorpion built. Mine definitely had the Scorpion. Said so on the tag on the bottom of the cab. It was either the Black Widow or Scorpion during the time I bought mine.

I get that. This will probably never leave my house. I’m never going to be a gigging musician. So I may end up using this as a project cab.

If I may pipe up here...those older Peavey combos can sound pretty good when you push them. Not really crunchy; just a little dirty in a way that sounds pretty cool for rockin out in the basement.

I would recommend getting it working as is and exploring what it can do. You can buy a cab for your amp head any old time. The old Peavey combo may not be something you want to carry up and down stairs, but I’ll bet you’ll find useful tones in it if you’re patient...enough to justify it being part of your fleet as it’s own thing.

I've seen some decent deals in Guitar Center's used listings. Not many but they are there.

Pawn shops too, especially the chain-type (Cash America, Value Pawn). They mark older inventory down every month or so. I got a Peavey Tour 700 amp in an Odyssey rack with a Samson power conditioner and Fender tuner, all "like new", for $200 and a Peavey T-40 for $350 that way.

I've also pick up a few good deals on Facebook "Marketplace", too.
