Peavey VB-2 for gigging?

Hi VB-2 owners, or anyone who has a decent amount of experience with them


I think it's time for me to move to all tubes. I'm very interested in the VB-2, good tone, great price-point, but one piece of criteria it needs to meet is gig-ability(is that a word?)

Everything about its tone seems like a good fit for me, but it definitely needs to be my workhorse as well. My band plays originals that sound like 70's rock with some country influence, it gets a bit rowdy for a lot of our songs.


so... do you gig with yours? if so what type of music do you play?

I've played a ton with mine! It seems to have more power than the spec would indicate. My band plays at a pretty high volume. We do everything! Classic rock, grundge rock, pop, swing, country, western, funk, jazz. The VB-2 can cover it all.

Great amp! So is the VB-3 (which I also have). Voiced a little lower, but it doesn't sound "better."

Peavey has become an amazing company for bass players!!

Looks like a smokin' good deal.
I've never heard anything bad about any Peavey gear in terms of giggability.
Stuff is built like tanks. Or like whatever they put tanks in when they want to protect 'em.

Sorry... late to this party.

I had an original MusicMan HD150 head, and that coupled with either a 1x15 LabSeries or a 2x15 Peavey was my main gigging rig for about 19 years. The MM claimed 150 watts, but more like 120 or so. However, it was excellent and only crapped out on me once in 19 years of about 75-100 gigs per year. I let it cool down and it started right back up, although I did later (quickly) order all new GL6L6's and replace all four. A guy who wanted that head made me too good of a deal to pass up, so I let it go.

Yes, the Peavey should have plenty of volume for gigs, depending on your cabinets.
