peavy amps

I've got three or four Peavey Amps.

All of them sound relatively good, and are solid. Better than a Tube Ampeg? No. But a good tone that'll get you through the gig? yes.

If you want tube, just get a nice big peavey amp, and throw the tube preamp of your choice in front of it.

I'm running a tour 700 into an Ampeg 810e. I just picked up a Spector Euro 5LX and it's now added some balls to my tone, but I wanna get an OD pedal. If you want a dirty amp, don't get the peavey.

My drum-stuff is all high end DW, Gretsch USA Customs, etc... As bass (so far) is my secondary instrument I have tried to get the most bang for my buck. This keeps leading me back to Peavey.

My attic is turning into a Peavey shrine.

I have an old Mark IV that I use as a spare or for practice at home. I upgraded to the PRO500 head 5 years ago and I'm super happy with it, tons of tone-shaping options,every tone you can possibly imagine is in there if you spend some time getting used to the parametric eq. I've used it through Ampeg 810, G-K 410, Peavey 410, and Aguilar 112s and got compliments on the sound from all of them, pretty versatile if you ask me.

Probably not adding much to what has already been posted but I have a soft spot for Peavey gear. The stuff is built well and they still build a lot of their gear in Mississppi. They have also been on the cutting edge of Class-D amp technology and had high power light weight 1U power amps on the market years ago but they don't get much credit for that. The old man (Hartley Peavey) deserves more respect then he gets.

I believe Peavey gear is under rated a lot of the time but they build some fantastic tube bass amps in the VB2 and VB3 as well as some excellent tube guitar amps. The guitarist I play with uses a Peavey Classic 50 (2X12) tube amp that sounds amazing, looks great and is built lik a tank.

When I used to work in a music store we sold Peavey bass amps and among them the FireBass 700 was one of the most powerful amps that didn't get alot of credit for it's capabilities.

When paired with a Peavey "TVX?" 410 and a 115 it just flat out smoked shook everything in the building, a lot more amp than anyone would need.

And the old BAM 210 was a solid little combo with built-in EFX that just killed!

I never owned any Peavey Bass gear but it all was super solid, and I wouldn't knock it if you paid me to. Super fine equipment for sure.

I usually back up the "Peavey is indestructable" motto, but the Bam 210 I purchased has less than 10 gigs on it and has went down twice...in the shop again as we speak. Hopefully this takes care of it as it is a killer (albeit) heavy amp.

peavy has a definant sound you cant get away from .... just like all other amp brands

How many people do you see swearing by the peavy sound?

just saying ,,, also ... almost everybody has owned a peavy at one point or another (Work horses) But we all trade up eventually.

Here's one right here. I've played the holy grail ampeg stuff SVT-CL's, VR's, Bluelines, etc. I'll take my VB-2 over them any day.

Same here... My vb2 continues to shock me every time I plug in. And I was a 10 year svt player, honestly as crazy as it may seem the vb2 is just better to me in every way.

I'm in two different bands with two different guitarists who own Peavey amps. Neither have "traded up," despite many opportunities to do so.

There's a certain stereotype that needs to be broken here. The 30's and 50's are great sounding amps, too many people listen with their eyes. Put this stuff behind a curtain and a lot more people would be liking peavey's than would care to admit it. Without getting personal, it seems like some folks would pay a hefty price for a turd if you put the right label on it.:)
