As a forum comprising mainly people who have chosen the electric bass as their primary instrument, it's probably already safe to say we have odd taste in hobbies.

I've made well clear by now my fondness for reading tarot, and more recently I've become smitten with the art of lockpicking.

I recall hearing many a curious pastime from you wonderfully colorful low-enders as it is, so let's scoop them all into one place to admire, shall we?

What are your unorthodox pastimes?

Lockpicking is certainly an interesting choice...just don't get stopped by the cops carrying a kit, ok?

I'm fairly boring hobby-wise, I'm afraid.
Used to do a lot of hill-walking, but shot knees and back stopped that.
Watercolour painting, which evolved into street photography, but then I got lazy.
I still play a lot of computer games, currently varying between Lord Of The Rings and Star Wars based online multiplayer.
I love the way whole worlds are created for us to wander around in, savouring the rich details, enjoying the stories and splitting skulls open with our favourite battleaxes.

Bulldogs! <3

Pardon my athletic illiteracy, but what's different about the vintage rules?

Depends upon what year rules you play by. 1860s ball I underhand pitching (but can still be pretty fast). For most years, any hit caught on one bounce is an out. No gloves or catcher's gear, so the catcher often moves back and catches on the bounce (has to move up with men on base, which can get interesting). Foul balls are not strikes. Bats are generally bigger (40" was the norm). Lots more, but those are some of them. It can also vary by region. The Conan video was a humerous look at the game - it can get intense as any other amateur game.

1880s is much closer to modern baseball.

LARPing for baseball fans? I heartily approve.

Ah, the joy of bobby pins!
I was browsing for a proper discreet kit, though. Suspect I'll have to emphasize "discreet," and keep my nose clean in general.

Video games are proof the universe loves us. I've sunk more hours into Skyrim than... like, sleep, or something.

Does surfing for porn on the internet count? :D

Only if the porn is peculiar, I guess...?

Well, some people LARP and or do HEMA, people collect all kinds of stuff. People write all kinds of weird fanfiction, and draw all kinds of oddly specific stuff too - just look on deviant Art or Tumblr, it gets pretty weird, pretty fast.

I build fishing rods, tie fly's, and tie my own fly leaders. I also make knives, and leatherwork (for the knives mainly). I'm a woodworker and woodturner (from pens up to table tops) and do some metal working as it relates to making British style hand planes (so peening metal dovetail joints for infill planes). Besides bass, musically I'm into playing traditional Irish music mainly on tenor banjo and Octave Mandolin.

I joined a FB group for local geeks & they do things like host movie-watching parties & role-playing in full Game of Thrones gear.
So far I've only ever joined them when they have lunch or dinner someplace, because going to someone's home that I don't know to hang out with people who already know one another just frightens me.
I'd probably put my foot in my mouth a dozen times.

and I'm too cheap to suit up for a role-playing event
