Compressor, EQ, or octave. Those descriptors are highly interpretable, but depending on what you mean any of those three might do the job you want done.

I would suggest experimenting more with the EQ on your amp and/or the tone controls on your bass before you start spending money on pedals. What don't you like about your current setup?
One of these comps listed and some eq tweeking should help a lot. That said, amp, cab(s), bass, and especially technique will play a significant role.
Here is the idea (yes one has extra fuzz on it from a synth but that was just layering by the producer not what I'm looking for, i'm concerned only with the bass guitar sound.

Now, the issue could be speaker amp/cab, but my weakness here is that I don't want to have a real speaker cab for noise reasons. I have the preamp and the ampeg svx software for that purpose. If I am screwed without a real speaker and cab I should probably just hear it from you all and face the music (no pun). If I have any hope of getting this tone with pedals or other post production techniques without buying a speaker cab and micing it that would be the best option.

MXR M81. Done. Sweepable mids and a huge clean bass boost is the key to the treasure you seek.

That looks awesome i mean sounds awesome I just watched the demo. This may be a dumb question but can I run the output into my tube preamp? If so would it be active or passive input on the tube pre?
Those recordings are an octave pedal without the original bass signal. Kind of sounds like an OC2 to me, but definitely an analog voiced octave pedal.

Definitely. The second question depends on your pre. If it can't handle the output level on passive, go to the active input as it's just adds a pad. You could also just lower the volume coming out of the M81 so you don't overload your input.

Never used an M80 but the M81 does not have any distortion at all. It's huge and clean sounding, and the sweepable mid control is what sets the M81 apart.
The thing I dug most about the m80 was the "color" button, and yeah I never liked or used the distortion on it, that being said mxr makes some great stuff!!
