Pedal board placement/buffer placement

So obviously pedal order is subjective and all that, but I just wanted to see what you guys thought of this pedal order.

I also would like to know where I should put any buffers I might need. I've heard that you want to put one at the beginning of the signal chain (though I'm not sure if that means before or after the tuner) but that there's also a thing with wahs and fuzzes.

Personally, I like to put the wah after the dirt and use the preamp at the end of the signal chain.

With passive pickups sometimes its good to put the buffer early on. Also if you have a bit of signal loss due to all the pedals you could put it last in the signal chain, right before the amp.

Afaik you can't buffer after the fact. The muffling effect is lots of wire between pickups and amp. Cut it off with buffer at start. A boss tuner at the start = job done, but if it ain't broke....

The other goto solution you may or may not be needing is a bypass loop for the wah.

Ok, so if I were just using a snark pedal tuner (without built in buffer) would I put my buffer pedal before or after the tuner in the pedal train

If you could tell any difference I would be amazed and buffer would go first. Then the tuner should go in the bin at first opportunity for being a piece of junk.

Ok and are you saying that if you could tell a difference, then the pedal must be a piece of junk, or that from experience the snark pedal tuner is a piece of junk?

If A is true, then B follows to be true, I don't know anything about Snark pedals, but heard the clipon turners work well until they don't.

i would have
bass - tuner - preamp - overdrive - wah - fuzz - bassballs - fuzz - phaser - fuzz - flanger - chorus - delay - reverb - amp

if your preamp is always on put it after the tuner or after everything. whatever is in front of the preamp, when the preamp is on, the preamp will tune the effect. wah could be after the fuzzes, or swamp it with the bassballs in the chain i would use. if you use bassball more than the wah, i would, have the bassballs closer to the bass in the chain. flanger could be before fuzzes and phaser can be after. overdrive can be swapped with the fuzzes and you can have all the distortions group before the flanger, unless you want a distortion before the wah/bassball/phaser.

Alright, so since I created this thread I did some experimenting of my own and found what I like personally, which is:

Tuner -- Big Muff -- Blower Box -- Ultimate Drive -- American Sound (Preamp) -- Wah -- Flanger -- Phaser -- Delay/Reverb unit -- Looper -- Amp.

Before I answer, I need to know a couple things. Are you using the DI on the M80 or the Peterson Tuner? Or not using a DI at all? And does the Peterson tuner mute the signal when you're tuning?

I run into a separate REDDI DI.... And i do use Peterson to MUTE all signals so i can silent tune.

Alright, so I would do:

M80 -- Octave -- Chorus -- Tuner

I would but the compressor either before or after the Octave pedal, try it both ways and do it which way you prefer.

If you have an active bass, then you could also try the M80 at the end before the tuner, or use it at the beginning, whichever way you prefer the sound of.
