Pedal Problems?

Hey,

Wondering if someone can help as I can't seem to find anything on the net.

I have a small pedal board with few pedals on it but having problem with my Echo/Delay Ibanez DE7....I love this pedal but sometimes I get this terrible crackle or buzz sound coming from my amp and when I tap the short pedal cable that's going into the pedal it stops after few taps or adjustment. Usually it can last throughout my show but seems to happen more frequently.

I thought it was probably the cable, but I switched them a bunch of times so it seems like maybe something wrong with the connection. When I do some research everything seems to say that pedals hardly ever break and that it should be the cable.

Anyone ever had this happen and figured out what the problem was?

Have you opened it up to look at the jack? Tightened the jacks?

Jack may have some oxidation as well. If the Jack is structurally sound, try exercising it, 20-30 hearty pokes with a 1/4" connector.

Use some deoxit on that 1/4 plug when you are moving it in and out of the Jack several times it will clean the contacts.

The DE-7 is one of Ibanez' "Tone-Lok" pedals, there's no way to tighten the jacks, they use board-mouned jacks.

I suggest replacing the patch cable first and seeing if that helps.

With board mounted jacks the solder can get stressed by regular use, and the only fix for that is to re flow the solder. It's easy if you are moderately comfortable with soldering.
