We've been recording a demo, where I use an EBS BassIQ a few times:

First song, during the transition between verse II and the heavy 'break' afterwards. Up-mode by the way.

Second song during both verses, together with the EBS Octabass. It's not mixed in loudly this time, but hopefully you like the sound. Upmode too.

The EBS can be used in downfilter mode, very cool for funky settings with a long attack time, so the filter closes slowly. Very cool, especially with an Octaver. Have fun.

I just stumbled on this thread looking for the difference in Russian and US Big Muff's. This is a great find.

I would like to hear a DOD 250 if someone can throw down a quick recording before I go buy a Russian Big Muff just so I won't regret the Big Muff if the DOD is what I need.

I will try to get samples of the Big Muff Pi reissue and DOD 250 resissue up this weekend (too late tonight). I have some other crap lying around, too: Digitech PDS 1550, Ibanez TS7, Marshall Supervibe, and Rocktek Super Delay.

I would like to hear the SABDDI everyone raves about.

Hmm...maybe this thread is dead...

Here's a sample dry, then through the DOD 250 reissue, then the Big Muff Pi (US reissue). The signal chain is:

Fender Precision Plus --> pedal --> Hartke 3500 (using DI pre-EQ) --> M-Audio AudioBuddy --> M-Audio Delta 66 (computer).

No reverb or compression (other than the comp in the 3500).

Thanks for the clip. I ordered a green Big Muff from Samash already but I can see uses for a DOD 250 as well. It's not like the DOD is expensive so I'll pick that up later on.

What are your settings on your Muff? Seems a little harsh for my likings but the DOD is a little too soft for what I have in my head. The ruskie muff sounds like it might be in between those

Yeah, the Muff is way harsh. Volume at 12 o'clock, tone and sustain at 9! That's how much distortion it puts out and it's barely turned up. The DOD had the gain set at 1, level at 11. When the gain gets high on the DOD, it sounds to me very much like hard-clipping, and the low end really gets cut. I like it for Adding just a little bit of gain.

I just got both pedals in the last month, so I haven't found my settings yet. Also, I can't say how much the Hartke head is coloring the sound. I should probably go straight into the Hi-Z input on the mic pre. Maybe this weekend.

I also have a Hartke (Hartke 5000) so the sounds will be close to the same I think. It would be cool to hear how much the hartke colors your sound. If I had proper gear to record on I'd toss some up when I get mine in but I don't right now...
