Pedalboard Patch cable problem

Hi everybody! I have a question about patch cables... my pedalboard has 2 rows, so how do I connect the 1st with the 2nd?
I simulated two images to make you understand better.
In the first one the problem is having to use a 75 cm (29.5 inches) custom patch cable.
In the second i can use normal patch cable but with chaotic order.

I use what you call a "chaotic order" on my guitar and bass boards to put the most-stomped pedals in the front row. That requires a number of odd lengths, including one about 2' long. I just build the cables I need. Although I resisted it for a long time, I've been doing it about 10 years now.
 
I'm definitely in the camp of making sure any and all pedals that might get switched during a song are placed in the front row, and any pedals that only get switched between songs or not at all are placed in the back row. And that means my input is always in the back row, and will either be a tuner, an acoustic resonance enhancer, or a single loop switcher.

I now prefer to keep my tuner off the board, so that it can be used separately, but my main bass pedalboard consists of six pedals in two vintage Boss BCB-3 cases, so the tuner is first. I tend to use a much simpler board for bass than for guitar, but in my current main guitar board, the tuner sits off the board, but gets power from the board when on stage, and from battery when off stage.

From the tuner, I go to a One Control BJFe 1Loop, which allows me to route my signal through the front end of my Boss GT-1000Core for the acoustic resonance enhancer and compressor, then back out to my analog drive pedals, before hitting my DSM & Humboldt Electronics Simplifier. The back end of the GT-1000Core sits in the Simplifier's effects loop for stereo mod/delay/rev.

I do have a Simplifier Bass Station, but it's not currently incorporated into my main bass board. It's on a mini board with a One Control BJFe Lemon Yellow Compressor, Blackberry Bass Overdrive, and Sonic Blue Twanger.

While it's always a good idea to keep your signal chain as short as possible, the addition of a 75 cm patch cable to allow you to place your pedals in the configuration that makes the most logistical and musical sense is not going to significantly affect your signal in terms of degradation due to capacitance, particularly so when you pedals are in use, or when you have a buffer in the signal path.

Looking at the pedals you have in that diagram, I think you should ask yourself whether or not you have a lot of duplication in your effects. How many preamp and drive pedals does a bassist really need?

Eventually you will have a collection of various length cables that you will either make or purchase for your various boards. I have a box of cables from 50 years but still occasionally need to purchase a specifically sized one.
As far as pedal order or setup my advice is to put most used on the fron row and always on on the back row of possible. Try different combinations as they are all potentially magic no matter what the rules say.

Consider that you’ll probably want your DI to be free to accept a straight XLR cable.

Also, why not just move the top row over to the left some more? Then you wouldn’t have to buy any new cables, but you’d also remove the extra space on the left to add new effects.

I’ve also seen people connect their pedals backwards to bridge the gap between rows, so they’d be in the same order, but connected from the last pedal on the left moving right
 
Does the input and output have to be on opposite sides? I'm thinking the bottom row could go right to left and then the 2nd row goes left to right.

Edit: having said this, I get the jack going right to left would be an issue. On mine I have a long cable snaked to the right-most pedal.

I split my signal and run my pedalboard in parallel instead of series.

The order that my pedals appear on my pedalboard don’t really have anything to do with the order in which they are connected. I use George L cables and make whatever length is needed to connect in the order I want, regardless of where the pedal is on the board.
I’m new to this pedalboard thing though, so listen to the experts that have been doing it for a while. There are some awesome looking rigs above here.
 
If you can solder I would suggest Mogami 2319 cable and Squareplug SP400 connectors. Roll your own and save a decent amount of money while keeping it as tidy as you'd like. How you have them set up is entirely up to you, and it only has to make sense to you.
 
I'll go against the grain and say that configuration 2 makes the most sense. You don't have to buy an unusually long cable (or learn to make one) for that, you can just buy standard sizes. This is always how I've organized multiple rows of pedals and it works fine. The only stretch in your configuration is the Big Muff to Microtubes, but you can solve that by feeding the Orange into the Muff, Muff into the Microtubes.
