Pedaltrain MINIs United Again!

Even more essential on a nano :)

ptnano_d2012_07_18.jpg

RIDICULOUS.

Are you loving this setup?

Jeez man, and I thought MY Mini was packed tight. I have some catching up to do. lol

What's the little black box with three knobs on it?

5sg.

Thanks, but the irony of your statement is that it was your pedal boards that got me working on tightening up my pedal boards. :D

The little black box is my secret weapon. It is a submarine combined with a simple mixer so that I can mix the two channels coming out of the FEA compressor. All the other effects go through the high channel whilst the low channel goes direct to the Sub-Mixer. Keep my stingrays lovely and punchy even when the fuzz is smacking everyone in the face. :bassist:

My most updated pedalboard.

Newest editions are the Darkglass Vintage and the Phat Phuk, Next step will be to replace the compressor and maybe replace the Mastotron with something that will fit in that space better - it's a bit painful hitting the switch on in when it's sideways. Such a stupid design.

Hope the pic works!
Finally put the mini togther!
R to L is ST200 tuner>HBE Hemaoma>TC Corona Chorus>MXR M87>Sansamp. Underneath is Voodoo Lab PP2+. I used a rotary tool to cut the board so the power supply would fit. I plan on putting legs from a guitar stand to lift the back of the board so the power supply will clear the ground. Right now, it sits at a nice angle, but it's a bit wobbly. I'm not totally satisfied with the patch cables (too long; connectors too big) so I'll probably get a cable kit next.

Hey dude!

Can you compare your Phat Phuk B to your Darkglass Vintage?

I have a PPB and am really curious about the Vintage.

I've only had both for a few days and am yet to try them with the band. But initial impressions are that the Vintage has much more dirt than the Phat Phuk, and gives a great warm tube sound. It replaced a VT Bass for me and I'm much happier already with the vintage.

They're really quite different animals though - ones a boost and the other is a warm over drive.

Nice photos on your site too! I spent a few years up until recently working as a photographer. There's some up Link Removed.

I appreciate it, dude! It's always nice to meet fellow photographer/bassists :D

your concert pictures are great! How is John Butler live? He is really really talented.

Anyway,
Can the Vintage do a good "slight boost" tone? Or is it really colored even at low drive settings?

I really like the fact that it has a direct clean blend, too.

John Butler puts on a great live show - one of the best I've seen. That gig was at an natural amphitheater in the middle of the rain forest too, was amazing.

You can't boost the clean tone through the Vintage, only add the drive tone (which can be boosted). But it is great at low drive settings, possible to add just a little bit of dirt, yes.

Gotcha. So if you had to choose just one of the two pedals...which would it be, and why? :hiding:

Depends what you want, to me the PP isn't a drive pedal (but I'm yet to touch the internal trim pot). If you're after a boost, the PP is great. However, if you want a bit of warm tube type dirt, I'd be all over the Vintage.

Agh...I am really thinking about picking up a Vintage and seeing for myself. I have never considered getting rid of my phat phuk...maybe until now...
