Pedaltrain MINIs United Again!

Hi! I'm new on the forum. My name is Mariano and I'm from Argentina. Showing my Pedaltrain Mini is a good way to start, I think, so here I go, hope you like it:

I'm also a big fan of Mustang basses, so I'll search the proper thread for that...

+1 to Jared, nice Mini.

Alright here is my mini, also my first attempt to take a photo with my new IPhone.

Another nice one.

Flymo, I've done the same thing. Sometimes simple is better. That's why I've currently got a Mini as my main board... started with a Pedaltrain Pro. lol ;)

no matter what i put onto my pedalboard, it's just the dirt and the delay that tends to stay - so that's all i'm having for now!!

I had the same problem for awhile, was trying to fit some modulation in there (think I might revisit the phaser option) and a filter or wah and I just dont seem to utilize them. Then I picked up a reverb (nimbus) and decided its not going ANYWHERE. 2 fuzzes, an od, reverb and delay = killer board imo.

The first Pedaltrain Mini thread reached it's limit, so here's Part II. Pedaltrain Mini FTW.

Here's my current setup, but working out plans to get an Aguilar Octamizer. I also think the Fuzzrociuos is about to come off so I can get my B3K back on board. Ha! Get it? "On Board!" lol

(yeah, yeah, I know... cheese factor 9... lol)

I can't make my mind up between the B3K and a fuzzorocious OSD and I need help and experienced opinions. I want a warm tubey distortion that cuts through the mix live. But I also want to be able to jack it up to crazy dist if I want to too. Any suggestions between the two who used both???

I've never tried the OSD, the Fuzzrocious on my board in that pic is the older version of the Dark Driving. It's another excellent drive, but probably not what you're looking for... Even on the bright setting, the DD is more of a dark "throw a blanket over your amp" overdrive. It does have some good grind to it, but not the bright crunchy attack it sounds like you might be looking for.

The B3K is the way I'd go, based on your post. It's not the warmest overdrive I've tried, but I still remember being quite surprised (and pleased!) when I first fired it up, because it sounds remarkably similar to the overdriven sound of my 1974 Ampeg V4B. The B3K has quite a bit of angry gain on tap, and has the switches to further tailor your sound. It also adds a certain little something to your sound that's hard to explain... Maybe "enhances harmonics" would be the right term? I certainly don't think you'd be disappointed. The B3K definitely lives up to the hype, IMO.

Now if you're really looking for that "last overdrive you'll ever need" overdrive, give the B7K a try if you can put the scratch together. I sold my B3K to help fund the 7 and it really is pretty incredible. Same great overdrive sound as the 3, but the addition of the EQ takes an already great overdrive over the top. Mine's on all the time as a clean preamp (and the DI has LOTS of headroom), I simply use the blend knob to blend in overdrive crunch as needed.

Youtube has some pretty good videos of both the B3K/B7K, but this is the one that pushed me over the edge for the 7... And I'm not even a metal guy at all.

Feel free to PM me if I can help further. I've tried 17 (I think? 16 or 17?) overdrives now, always happy to talk gear and help how I can. :bassist:

I was actually seriously considering getting the B7K but I already have two preamp type pedals, the BDDI and the VT. I don't think I'd need another one you know. I see that they are releasing a vintage tubes now!! So I'm really not sure what to do!! Haha. I tell ya, that fulltone bass drive sounded so sweet to my ears. I listen to everything, YouTube and stuff like that, through my amp so I can hear what it will really sound like. For the most part.

Lol. I've been on a preamp kick for the last while, which is what lead me finally to the B7K. I also currently own a Tone Hammer, Sansamp PBDDI and VT Bass, have tried my Tubeworks Bluetube as a preamp, previously owned a BDDI, and tried a Rusty Box. :rollno: lol

Can't really comment on the Vintage Microtubes, other than I know it's not really a flavor of overdrive I want/need. It sounds like you're doing your research so I'm sure you already saw it, but just in case... There's a rather lengthy thread in progress about the VM here:

It all boils down to what sounds best to you[/, so if you dig that Fulltone, I'd say give it a shot! It was on my list to try... before I got to the B3K. Lol A guitarist I work with has the guitar version of the Fulltone, and it sounds awesome for sure.

I don't remember how long it's been since I've posted a pic, so here it is... the B7K replaced the Tone Hammer, but I think that's been the only change recently. The Mini is ALMOST finished for good!!!

What's they ampeg pedal??

Ampeg Scrambler, google it

Incorrect, actually... It's an Ampeg Sub Blaster. Google it. :p

(Sorry, couldn't resist. :p LOLOL)

The Ampeg Sub Blaster is an analog octaver, mine's from the later 90's I think. Snagged it for a steal here on TB. Great sound, and built like a tank. Definitely sounds more vintage when compared to an octaver like the MXR BOD. Takes up a good share of pedalboard space though, which is one reason it's not on the Mini. ;)
