Pensa vs. Sadowsky

I've made a recent discovery, a very awesome one!!! Pensa basses!!! I've been a Sadowsky man for quite some time, and I can't believe that I've found something I like better, but wow do the Pensas sound incredible. Anyone else out there had this experience?

Yep, Ive owned two. Nice pieces. I do prefer the Sadowsky basses, though. I have 5.

Just my preference. I like the preamp especially. I actually put a Sadowsky pre in the 5 string Pensa I had. It was just way too heavy to gig on a regular basis for me. I had a real cool Pensa 4, white, maple neck and board, banjo frets. Played amazing. Neck was super thin. So thin that when you changed the strings it went totally out of wack. LOL. Awesome piece.

Sadowsky just fits me. Fit and finish, tone, weight, looks, etc. My preference. Either bass is a winner Enjoy

I'm sure that dialing in a little more of the neck pup would change that sound. It's also a fretless.

I own 4 Pensa basses, and 2 Sadowsky. At the beginning I though Sadowsky was the real deal, but then I had the same feeling with Pensa. IMO Pensa uses better woods, better finish. I loved the preamp, but I used in passive way now because the preamp is too ´glutton´. Sadowsky peamp is more 'real', but passive is not a good deal.

I think you will have to own the 2 ones, some day you will love Pensa, then Sadowsky... etc.

Both are the best building for sure

In McBride's hands it doesn't matter what bass it is...he could make a stick and piano string sound good.
once again, a great example of the '98% talent-2% gear' scenario imho.

I had never heard of these until a trip to one the Manhattan shops about 3 years ago. My Takeaway;

1. Every bit as good as Sadowsky and USA Lakland in terms of build and overall quality.
2. Very powerful sounding. Only other J-type bass that sounded as forceful and meaty is the Spector USA Coda.
3. The 3 I tried were all ungodly heavy.
