I’m sure it’s not that big of a deal, but I find this extremely irritating.

I’m trying to sell an item on Reverb, of course, and I wake up this morning to see I’ve got a message from someone. I think, “cool!” When I open the message, it literally just says “hello”. That’s it.

Ok, what’s the point of this? I just think it’s a combination of weird and rather annoying. I don’t feel like responding to extract the person’s intent. Is that wrong? I’m gettin’ too old for this ****.

"Hello" is hardly anything to worry about. There could have been a multitude of worse comments to wake up to. Am I to understand that you chose not to reply to a potential customer?

Easiest response is, "Hi there, do you have any questions or would you like to make an offer on the _____?"

Some people are new to the site or just don't get how it works. Nothing to get worked up over.

My problem is with low-ball offers. If I follow their store with the intent to low-ball the very next thing they offer up for sale, is that passive-aggressive of me?

Honestly, I kinda get why the buyer did that. The most frustrating thing as a buyer is seeing an ad and getting your hopes up. You contact the seller and..... nothing. He probably just wanted to see if you would respond.
