This post got me thinking about influences. There was a time when I first started playing that I used to listen to and go to a lot of Dave Matthews (I know) and whether I care to admit it or not, Steffan Lessard was a massive influence on my playing. It may not be apparent in my playing, but there are definitely lines I play that conjure his approach. It hurts to be honest.
yeah, the people you listened to when you first started playing will always have some kind of lasting influence on your playing. I was making that observation a few days ago because in a song i'd recently written there was a thing i did which i do know for a fact i lifted from Green Day's Mike Dirnt because i remember he does that on a few songs on Kerplunk... something i learned in those long gone days of my teenage years when i was learning the bass along Green day records.... Nowadays of course I would never admit to have ever had a Green Day phase. Oh wait i just did....
More trolling? Heaviest mainstream radio band... right up there with Mudvayne. Right up there with 'Break the Cycle' by Staind. That album is so much heavier than any of that campy death/doom/core bands as well.
