I just played Spiro Mittles for years, as that what my teacher told me to play. But then Covid and and I started looking at Talkbass string threads and the Odyssey began. The Sirens of gut, innovations, etc calling to me and my bass. Anyway, I jumped on the ship hoping to arrive at string Nirvana but it is taking a lot of time and money. I hope to get off soon to come back to my basement to practice more. Basically I had couple of comments/ questions that maybe others may find useful.
I put Zyex on my Plywood Shen, and they sounds great. Easier to have good intonation and I wonder if that is even possible. But with the Krivo pickup the string volume was uneven but with some adjustments more or less even in the basement, as gig testing has basically stopped for me. I wondered if it is because of the different types of metals used in the wraps of the strings. I wondered if anybody else experienced this. Compared to Spiros they are looser, and lose a volume and sustain. In goofing around I sometimes find some old cliche' Jazz muted string triplet sounded the better than with he Sprios. Did someone have a Blue Note record on for a moment? They bow easier, but I am not a real bower of any note.
Now I am thinking of changing strings on my carved bass, likely moving the Zyex over there for more bow practice during this time, and thinking of trying Perpetuals on the Shen, but wondered if any tried the Perpetuals with Krivo Pickup. It seems like it would work fine, and I maybe remember reading my Colorado friend bherman using Perpetuals with Krivo on an eminence. The Shen is what I play out usually as in Colorado it can be 95 degrees or snowing or both in one long outside gig.
Also of note, I tried the Evah Lights, but wanted more sustain on higher notes and they don't work with the Krivo. Could be the match with my bass or my technique.

I had a set of Correllis, but they are way too loose for my taste, but sounds great with the Krivo.
Also any remedies for getting off the string compulsion cruise would also be appreciated.
