Well, in all honesty, the 'punk rock is not a crime' sticker is on there ironically, not to make a statement.
I spent the better part of a day playing with CAD and then using my CNC mill to do this bass clef inlay. I used leftover red pearloid. It fits tight in the pickguard, no glue needed

Well, judging by your name, sarcastro, which has the root "sarcast'' , which is similar to sarcasm, I assume the post was a joke.
No, decals will not and can't affect tone.
My first bass (Ibanez GSR200) is plastered in misc. stickers. I've got some navy bumper stickers, a 'powered by intel' decal, and 'intel inside' one, several AMG ones, a couple apple ones. A microsoft one
And, on the back , there was a giant decal I made in design. It said "welcome to the world of 98'' This referred to the ad campaign Microsoft had whent he windows 98 came out.
Pretty nerdy eh?

This brings up an interesting point.
Inlays, gold hardware, and figured wood -- like stickers -- don't affect tone. So, I'll never understand why some people consider stickers to be uncool, but not those other aesthetic enhancements. They're all nothing more than "bling bling".

anyway... I'm planning on plastering the whole body of my Squier VMJ with whiskey bottle labels... basically because the existing body, while nice, is rather boring and has no grain at all...
I'm working on collecting the labels right now... one bottle at a time... carefully steaming the labels off as I empty each one...
Yes, I know you can buy unused ones, but that ain't the point... that's boring and too easy...

Where my cigs go;
It's had lots of stuff on it over time. Soon being stripped back and repainted a reddy orange - yellow fade.
I'd prefer to have stickers and crap on my bass then tacky gold hardware etc

thats is surreal! the insulation tape im not sure on but the hardware i like!
if i keep my current bass im def mucking bout with some ideas? but probs gonna get a highway 1 fender jazz bass so i may hold back slightly but will still have something put on it the thread gives me v.cool ideas!
