Pet Peeves, let's hear them.

The people who drive all the way up to the front and cut in when you have to merge lanes.

In my hometown, there was one bridge to cross the Missouri river. One summer, they were doing some construction and traffic was a mess. I worked on the other side of the river and had to sit through miles of traffic every afternoon. The people that would zoom by, expecting to be let in annoyed me to no end.

One afternoon, the truck in front of me pulled out as if he was going to try to pass everyone. However, he just stayed right where he would have been in the other lane. The irate impatient people lined up behind him but he wouldn't move. When we got to the one lane, I let him (and only him) back into my lane. I still smile when I think about it almost 20 years later.

My main pet peeve is when people say nuc-u-lur. I'm in nuclear medicine so i get to hear it a LOT. My boss even says it:rollno:

People who can't differentiate:
Then/Than
There/Their/They're
Your/You're
Affect/Effect
Except/Accept

The sound of people chewing.
Guitarists who can't control volume.
Crazy people who just don't understand that they SUCK.
Flakes.

People who come to my store and whine and complain when they see that it is no longer the store that it was two months ago before I bought it and opened a new store.

Customers who ask me if my coffee is good. What do they expect me to say to this? Yes it is good. It's Kona coffee; from Hawaii. But I own the place. Even if it tasted like dishwater, I would swear it was the best around.

Slow drivers in the left lane; who refuse to move over.

The fact that my girlfriend is a slob and a pack rat and she refuses to clean up her messes.

People who are so $&##%$^ self important that they can't wait for others to finish a sentence without interrupting.

TalkBass members who never reply to pm's.

TalkBass members who do not close threads once the deal is made and the item is no longer available.

Young men who wear their pants so low that I can see most if not all of their underwear.

Crooked/abusive/bully cops who abuse the authority that they are given.

Extreme political types who are so far on one side that everything from the other side is instantly wrong.

Everyone in the local Craigslist music section who prices their stuff higher than new prices. (seriously...Ampeg 8x10 for $900?!!?...a Spector "Rex" for $750?!?!)

Lazy kids who hang out on the Ave and hit people up for spare change to "buy food" but then buy drugs with any money they panhandle. I own a store. I get bored when it's slow. I see a lot of what goes down out there.

Lowballers.

Nigerian scammers who want to send a check for ten times the amount you're asking for your item.

Spam mail.

Bands who take themselves too seriously.

People who stick to a fact that has been proven wrong and continue to argue it instead of growing up and admitting to being wrong and moving on.

People who steal cream and sugar from my store. (it happens a lot)

Lot's of stuff...

People who steal cream and sugar from my store. (it happens a lot)

Honestly, stealing cream and sugar from a coffee shop, that's pretty damn low.
Reminds me of this woman on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire one time who was admitting that she steals toilet paper because she doesn't believe in having to buy it.

Just don't get into that McDonald's dipping sauce policy stuff. That's another one of my pet peeves.
"One packet of sugar is included per 10 ounces of coffee. Additional sugar is 10 cents per packet."

-People slamming doors

-People playing the passing game on the highway (ie lets speed up when I get over to pass you and then slow back down when I get back over and then tailgate when I fly past you in frustration)

-Smiley face eqs

-Bass knobs on keyboard amps

-People texting and talking on phones while driving.

-Multiple missed calls and no message

-People having 5 page long arguments in youtube comment section

Seriously,if I can,I pull up my badly hail-damaged '97 RAV4 as close as I can to their driver side door. I'm a pretty big guy so I usually don't get much grief for it. ;)

Also, people who drive big SUV's or pickups and can't stay in their own lane. If you can't drive it,don't own it!!

^ A whole damn lot of that going on in Texas. :scowl:

i think if all people would have to go to nyc to learn to drive the world would be a much better place, so for me it's passive drivers the "no no you go ahead" types. i don't mind the person that passes everyone to try and get ahead it's the "no no you go ahead" person that lets them in.

Weekend warrior PC enthusiasts, just because you put a PC together and loaded an OS does not mean you know anything about computers.

People with more than 4gb of ram in their computer: Yes you have 16gb good for you, how are those 32bit apps working out for you, jackasses.

Computer Training.com advertisements and the like, making IT look amazing with high paying jobs and job security and respect blah blah blah. The these idiots go get a bunch of paper certs, know nothing about how to do anything and bitch an moan to other staff because I won't hire them. (I'm not here to babysit)

People eating at keyboards

Sticky scroll wheels

Unplugging mice from the back then plugging them in the front, real pisses me off for some reason.

People calling me on my cell phone for non-emergencies, send an email.

Other:
News and people freaking out about the next "pandemic"

When I first opened my store, it happened daily. People would steal literally handfuls of sugar and they were even taking my cream. So I started keeping the cream behind the counter. I've been yelled at, cussed out, called a Nazi, fascist, etc. Also, for some reason everyone in Seattle seems to think that they deserve free stuff (water, cups, napkins, etc.) from me; while every other restaurant on my street has signs in the window informing people that they can't even come in to use the restrooms unless they are customers. But yet, I get called a Nazi because I won't give someone a free cup of ice water. Some neighboring places charge as much as $1.25 for a 12 ounce cup of water. I charge $.25 and get static about it. :spit:

As for my customers, I don't limit anyone on how much sugar or cream they get. They can take as much as they want and I try to be very accommodating. But I don't feel like someone who buys coffee from Starbucks should be able to come to my store and load up on cream and sugar. And yes, that's happened.

A few years ago, I bought a beat up 1987 S-10 pickup truck to commute in. It had several dents (one from where the previous owner hit it with a tractor). It had bad interior, lots of scratches, very old and looked pretty bad. But it was low mileage (it had 37,xxx on it when I got it and it was 17 years old at that point). Anyway, whenever I would see a moron parked like the ones above, I would always park my truck as close to the offending car as possible. I've parked so close at times that I would have to crawl out of the window just to get out. It got my truck keyed once or twice, but it was so beat up and ugly, I didn't care at all. It was worth it to inconvenience some dumb #%&$ who thinks the parking lot is there strictly to accommodate him/her.
