Pete Wentz squier

Great point msiner. And I'll go a step further: Any guy who bothers to log in here to slam Pete Wentz is a jealous toad. Get off your butt and do something about it. You don't have to be anything like Pete, you can do it in any style that you think is worthy of your massive talent and ego, but I dare any of the Wentz-slammers to get even one hot girl in the audience singing the lyrics to your song (no, I didn't mean your girlfriend or your mom). Go on noobs, show the world what you got.

So anyone who is popular is worthy of respect? I guess I should hope for the talent that Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears have. In my opinion, Wentz is on par with those two. Just because someone is popular does not make them a good musician, songwriter, etc. It means they are popular and have found a group of people to follow them. But, by your impressive reasoning, being popular means you should be respected.

Success in the music business doesn't come easy. Yes, I think it deserves respect whether or not you personally like the band and it's music or not. It is possible to respect something that doesn't appeal to your tastes.

Or, you can bash away and sound like a jealous 8th grader. Take your pick.

You always hear the argument that just because someone is famous doesn't make them talented or special. Just famous.

A lot of people slam Pete Wentz, and while I've got no love for the guy or his music, he's always said he sucked at bass guitar. I remember reading an article a while back when he says that he wishes he learned all the stuff that regular bassists learned. But now he's doing his own thing and he's making money.

How many of you guys would've had the same playing capability and knowledge without lessons? How many of you guys who haven't taken lessons know what you're actually playing? He's in the same boat as you, just in a more successful band than yours, so just keep that in mind when you judge.

Now Fiedly on the other hand... :p

everytime someone mentions pete wentz we have a nice long thread bashing him
ok he's no great bass player and i hate his band's bubblegum emo image and sound but some do and its their right to like what they want
it seems to me anytime anyone mentions anyone apart from jaco or james jamerson everyone gets there wife's knickers in a twist (which there secretly wearing) and starts the bashing what are we 12 years old again?
i dont like pete wentz i dont like his music but i'm not gonna waste my time bashing him not when i can be doing something productive like furthering my bass playing or working towards getting my band out there
maybe you lot have forgotten that non of your bands are signed and making money like he is so it can only be one of 2 things

1:jealousy
2:your even less of a bass player than he is :D

and just to clarify once more
i dont like pete wentz or his band i also hate jaco and his gash jazz solo's and i never cared for james jamerson either

thanks to the guy who posted the original post if i see one of his bass's i'll be sure to have a noodle on it hell i might even buy it because at the end of the day i dont give a toss who gets the money so long as i get my tone

I don't believe I ever once said anything negative about FOB's music, other than the joke about the video. They make music that people like. That's great. But that doesn't make him something special really. It does not take much much to appeal to the masses. Again, look at Brittany Spears. Paris Hilton. Lindsay Lohan. The people who are listening to and purchasing this music typically aren't the most discerning people. That's fine. FOB is part of a quickly passing fad in the music industry, IMO. They have gotten in there and made tons of money doing it. That's great for them. That still doesn't make him a good bass player.

Also, disliking a bass player doesn't mean that you are jealous of them. That's poor reasoning.

I have respect for lots of people and music that I don't like. Peter Wentz's playing ability is certainly not one of them though.

Okay i started this thread, and I started it about the BASS not pete, i do not care about pete, his music or life, i enjoy the squier and thats what this thread was for.

Pete bashing can be in the bassist section and all other negative comments that lead no where can be left in your mind.

Ya starts a thread, ya takes yer chances!

electrical tape on the 12th fret.
take off the neck, take out the electronics, and throw the bass body around your yard, parking lot, drag it down the highway, whatever it takes to get that damn bat-thing off.
once that's gone, put everything back together and play it like it owes you money!

(hmmm... that sounds like a plan. my wallet is now crying)

Such is the fate of every thread that's ever mentioned this bass. T'is a shame.

It is a sweet bass though. And $180? That's an awesome deal. I paid about 280 for mine, brand new.

The frustration that people have with Pete Wentz and his playing is understandable, but there are many musicians/actors who become popular and are not tremendously talented. (People famous for being well known) Ideally, someone who has a signature bass should be a decent bassist, but the bottom line is Pete isn't likely to change the way he plays because I don't enjoy it. People won't stop listening because I say there are better artists our there, so for us who don't like his music we won't accomplish anything slamming him. Probably best to just draw some amusement from it and move on with our lives.
