I know Type O Negative isn't known for it's bass lines. But I've found Peter Steele's bass tone very interesting and I was wondering if anyone know about how to get his tone or something similar to it.

Tune BEAD, use those Boss pedals and that will get you kinda close, but wolfkeller is right, there is an epic amount of things involved ........get an eq and make it smile, that will also help.

I've long researched this issue, Pete was a dyi kinda guy, his tech said he was always modding stuff so no one really knows. Its for certain chorus always with dist. Almost always reverb too. Delay was occasional. Peavey cabs with 2x18 and 2x10 plus horns.

Im using the DS1, CH1, and the DD3 set at 50ms. Im also using a mxr micro chorus set at 12, all that runs into my sonic max, the peavey 450 with the eq curve helps too. Its kind of a hobby for me to get close to his sound, thats just his distorted channel, I havent finished the clean channel yet,( need a reverb and flanger) im also planning on a sustainiac as soon as I have the money( i have a family so extra money is kinda hardvto come by sometimes) :(

Peter? Well early on all alembic spoiler, then when they were on ozzfest al Esh, then a custom Fernandez with a rick body. He had a green Fernande's and the last few years all he played was the Washburn m-10

A tweeter is like a horn......they make a sustiniac for bass , you just have to specify that its for a bass, an ebow will work but it wont give you those blood curdling harmonics that he gets.

There is a pic of his pedals floating around, I think its on TB actually, I used it as a starting point.....when I first started chasing his tone I heard he used a DS1, so I went to GC got one , brought it home , plugged it in, and boy was I dissapointed....thats when I started researching, found some tips here and there and saw how massive this was, been obsessed ever since.he truly is one of my heroes.
