My Strobostomp VS-S's display had been fading, and fading, and finally all the relevant info was just blending into the screen.
It light up fine, and I could kinda sorta not quite see it doing it's thing.
So, I called Peterson, asked for tech support, and got a nice lady named Sue who tooked up a tech support procedure they had filed and emailed ti to me.

It worked like a freakin' charm, and follows below.
I used CAIG deoxit, not alcohol, and I took the nuts off the in/out jacks and the screws off the DI output so I could pull that board, and more easily get to all the ribbon cable connectors.

Try the following:
Remove the bottom plate and shake any dust/dirt out of the tuner.
Tighten all board mounting screws & the stomp switch mounting nut.
Put some insulation tape on inside of the bottom plate in case something is shorting from the board.
Carefully remove cable connectors from the board and clean with a brush lightly dampened with alcohol
Replace bottom plate
Check display.

Chef,

Thanks for the info. I have the same thing happening to a less than two-years old strobo-flip. I'll have to give them a shout, although in looking at the unit, I'm not sure how one would get into the "guts." Oh well, at least I've got a place to start. I think I've heard others say that this is a common problem with the Peterson's. Anyone?

yes ,,,Sue is great...unfortunately...With my pedal...she sent me a new part...but it didn't fix it!!... I needed to send it back to them for new screen...Love my Peterson tuners....best on the market!
