Hello all! I recently got a crazy idea in my head for pickups for my Ibanez SR500. Essentially I want to stick 2 jazz pups into each pup rout in it and make each pup (total of 4) tap-able. I have a couple of questions for the great minds here to ensure that I don't have any phasing issues or anything else.
What I plan on using is two DiMarzio Model J's and two Squier J's. I'm sure it sounds weird using that combination but I have my crazy reasons. What I want to do is stick one of each into a single cover. Because the DiMarzio's are split coils I am unsure if phasing will be an issue and what wiring setup I should use to combat it if it still is.
My other question is Polarity. Is there a trick I should be using to make sure they don't interfere with each other while packed into a tiny cover? My intention is not to wire them as 2 humbuckers. Even though each pair will essentially be making one pickup the only blending I plan on doing is with one pup from the neck and one from the bridge. The end goal is to have two volume push/pulls. I hope this makes sense.
Or am I completely off my rocker wanting 4 pups in a bass built for 2?
