Phasers

I used a EHX Nano Small Stone for a long time. Loved it.

Then I got into an experimental "phase" with modulations; at one point, I had the EHX Nano Small Stone, MXR script Phase 90, and MXR Phase 100 all side by side, plus a few delay pedals, trying to figure out what I liked best. I ended up putting the whole lot up for sale and buying a flanger. :p

That said, for a phaser to keep, I would pick either the Stone or script Phase 90. Simple, cheap, durable pedals with classic tones.

I use my SA BEF Pro for most of my phasing. Sometimes, I run it with my BBE Soul Vibe for extra whooosh, and sometimes with my Moog Bass MuRF for extra creepiness. Sometimes, I use just the MuRF as a phaser.

I use a Pigtronix EP-1. It's huge and I don't really use the LFO controlled phaser setting as much as I use it for an envelope filter but I really like it.

Another Canadian with an EP-1 here.

As a boost it plays incredibly well with fuzz and if you have it modded with an expressionable phase control, you can use it as a kickass phase wah.

If I had to replace it I'd consider another EP-1 but FWIW, with the AC power requirement and its relative polite tone as compared to its successor (EP-2) it's not a big enough difference to go to Analogman and get an original. I would probably miss the character control but the EP-2 comes stock with the sweep expression input.

I think it's amongst the coolest looking pedals ever.

I'm using both the Source Audio BEF Pro (IMHO, such a great phaser sound!) and the Eventide Modfactor (from subtle and blendable to crazy expression-controlled stun). Also, I have them at different points in my chain so I can play off the interaction with my other effects.

I love phaser- probably my favorite effect sound.

I almost never use it.

Just doesn't seem to fit in with what I'm doing most of the time. I've owned a couple Small Stones in the past, but just use my Axe-FX for phaser sounds (based on Small Stone and Phase 90) now as they sound very close to analog and I don't use it enough to justify buying another one.

I had a Build Your Own Clone Phase 90 Script clone. It was the best phaser I've ever had for the bass. It went belly up about 3 years ago, BYOC no longer offers the kit. I've got a phase 90 right now, but I'm thinking of picking up a Small Stone.

I have EHX Nano Small Stone. I red almost every reviw about existing phasers about 4 years ago. At that time, EHX Nano Small Stone was the best option for sure. True bypass, no tone altering when off. Better than EHX Small Stone. I own it till today but changed band so I can't use it that much. Very good option if you are into phasers.

Ya, I've owned Small Stones all my life just about, and the Nano is better than any of them. Same sound but with much better bypass. Still the only phaser I like besides the old Maestros.

i do like the sound of a phaser on bass, especially with abit of fuzz goin. but its uses are pretty limited, i have a mxr phase 90, and aside from its annoying volume boost, its a pretty good phase. not currently on my board, but is good for abit of fun at home.

i really like the use of bass phaser on the new Russian Circles album, sounds awesome on the sustained notes in "Atackla"

listen to the whole song, obviously, but at 3:28 the phaser comes in. \m/
